Niharika was looking at different types of dresses, ethinic, traditional, and many more. But she didn't dared to choose one.
And Maanveer's gaze burned into Niharika, a silent storm raging in his dark eyes. She knew he was watching, felt the weight of his stare pressing against her, but she refused to look back. She wouldn't-she couldn't.
Tanish held up a dress, smiling. "Try this, Niharika. It will look perfect on you."
Maanveer's fingers curled into fists at his side. But when Niharika shook her head, refusing Tanish's choice, an unfamiliar satisfaction bloomed in his chest.
Just as they turned, someone bumped into Niharika, sending her off balance. A firm grip caught her waist before she could fall. Her breath hitched. The man's face was hidden behind a mask.
She stiffened instantly, then jerked away as though his touch burned her.
Maanveer's patience snapped. His body moved before his mind caught up, stepping forward to pull her away-but the masked man muttered an apology and disappeared into the crowd.
Shaurya and Disha arrived moments later, sensing the same unease crackling in the air.
Maanveer ignored the tight knot in his gut and walked towards the exit, but someone brushed past him again. This time, his eyes caught a detail others would have missed-the glint of a gun tucked at the man's waist.
His instincts screamed. His pulse pounded in his ears.
Something was wrong.
He scanned his surroundings, searching, until realization slammed into him.
"Niharika!"
His voice was sharp, urgent.
She stood outside, smiling at a group of beggar children, handing them snacks from her bag, utterly unaware.
Maanveer's gaze locked onto the small, deadly red dot that danced over her back.
His blood ran cold.
"Everyone, move!" His voice boomed, cutting through the air like a blade.
Shaurya reacted instantly, grabbing Disha and pulling her behind a car. Tanish rushed to his vehicle.
Maanveer didn't hesitate-he lunged, grabbing Niharika's arm and yanking her into his chest.
The world blurred around them as he pushed her behind a pillar, his arms bracing around her protectively.
