I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my tie, setting my hair, and taking my sweet time-because I knew she was waiting, Sitting on the bed, tapping her foot, looking at her watch every few seconds.
Impatient.
I smirked, pretending not to notice. Wearing my wristwatch, spraying perfume, fixing my cufflinks-every movement slower than necessary.
I finally turned to leave when her voice stopped me.
"Suniye..." (Listen)
I bit back a smile.
"Kahiye," I said, turning around.
She rubbed her neck, touched her nose-nervous. Then, looking up, she met my gaze and opened her fist.
A small silver earring sat in her palm.
The same one I accidentally broke last night.
I blinked, and before I could say anything, she reminded me- "You told me you would buy me the same earring."
I stared at her, caught off guard. This early in the morning?
"I... I'm getting late," I tried, picking up my phone.
Her lips parted, eyes narrowing. "Oh. So now you're getting late?" She crossed her arms. "Last night, you weren't in a hurry to break it, but today, you're suddenly running out of time?"
I exhaled. "It's just an earring-"
Her mouth fell open. "Just an earring?"
"You promised to replace it, Mr. Rajvanshi. And if I don't get my earring today, I swear, I'll-"
"You'll what?" I raised a brow, amused.
Then I'll go and complain to Papa!"
I stopped.
Slowly, I turned back to her, narrowing my eyes. "You wouldn't."
She smirked. "Oh, I would."
I crossed my arms. "You're seriously going to tell Dad that I broke your two-hundred-rupee earring?"
"Yes," she said without hesitation. "And I'll tell him you're refusing to fix it. Do you know what will happen next?"
