The following morning after breakfast I hear the doorbell ring and right after, footsteps skipping down the stairs. I assume it's Rose.
"Cosmo is here!" The little girl calls out excitedly and Scarlett leaves me with a peck on my lips to join her daughter at the door.
Not long after I hear their voices getting closer again and I get up from the couch, straightening my shirt before I approach the dark haired guy Scarlett just entered with. I give her a questioning look.
"Rose and Cosmo went straight to her room, there's a load to catch up on." She explains and I nod with a soft smile. "Y/n dear, this is Colin. Cosmo's father."
I extend my hand towards the older guy, giving him a firm handshake. "Good to meet you."
Before any awkward silence can fall over the situation, I continue, "why don't you guys sit and chat? I'll look after the kids. Do you want something to drink Colin?"
"Good idea dear, I'd like that." Scarlett says, before nudging Colin, who wasn't done staring at me just yet.
"Uh yes, yes right. Good." He eventually agrees and follows Scarlett over to the table, where they sit down together.
I make my way into the kitchen and prepare two glasses of water with a lemon, deciding on something normal since Colin didn't answer my question beforehand.
"Of course you can see him more often, but I think you're too busy with your skincare line, Rose and this other girl." My heart aches slightly for Scarlett, as I hear Colin say those words. As if he'd know any about the pain he gives Scarlett by not letting her see Cosmo that often. I take a deep breath, before I walk with confident steps up to the table and place the glasses on it.
"I hope water is good, Colin." My gaze lingers on the guy rather sternly, before it shifts back to Scarlett and my whole face softens up. "Are you good with water or do you need anything else sweetheart?"
"The water is perfect, thank you dear." Scarlett speaks with a very appreciative smile, before I lean down and leave her a reassuring peck on her cheek.
"I'll be upstairs with Rose now." With that, I leave Scarlett and Colin to talk though I feel uneasy about that. Let alone, hearing him talk about Scarlett like she wasn't capable to handle two kids and run a business.
"So first of, this other girl is a woman and she's my wife..." Scarlett's words fade, the further I walk up the stairs. That's when I feel a little proud and can't help but smile.
"Knock knock!" I beam playfully as I enter Rose's room and find her showing Cosmo all of her cuddle animals.
"Who's there?" Rose asks with a giggle and Cosmo looks in between us curiously.
"You." I play along and grin.
"You who?" Rose asks, trying to sound serious.
"Yoo-hoo! Anybody in here?" I beam and the two kids start laughing sweetly.
Cosmo jumps up and runs to hide behind Rose's closet, "No one in here!" He squeals and Rose follows suit, hiding under her covers on the bed.
I let out a long sigh and shrug my shoulders, "huh, I thought I heard someone in here before." Acting along, I pretend to walk back out of Rose's room and that's when the two come jumping out from their hideouts, beaming from excitement as I squeal like they just scared my soul out of my body.
"Oh my goodness!" I scream and chuckle, while Rose begins to attack me and calls Cosmo out to help her with bringing me down.
"Arr noo!" I whine playfully and slowly go down when Cosmo joins Rose.
