"Y/n/n! Y/n/n!" The little girl's voice gets overheard by all of the other student's eager conversations and my gaze falls onto Rose.

She crashes into my arms and I wrap them around her body, lifting her up. "Rosebud! How was school today?" I ask with curiosity.

Rose giggles and she does not move from my embrace as she rambles about her whole day. I hum and nod along, while I quickly make my way back to the car Scarlett is waiting in.

"And when I told Tommy that I'll take his pen too, when he steals mine again, he said he wouldn't want that at all." Rose contuines as I fasten her seat belt. Scarlett's amused chuckle from the driver's seat makes Rose stop in her ramble and look at her mother with wide eyes.

"Mommy you came too!" The little girl squeals excitedly and Scarlett and I can't hold our laughter in. She really is a sweet girl.

"Of course I came too, Rosebud." Scarlett assures her daughter and leans over to the backseat to kiss Rose's forehead gently.

Once I got in the passenger seat, the ride begins and of course, Rose is back telling Scarlett about her whole day now too. I sometimes giggle, when Rose exaggerates sometimes.

Back home I make sure to get Rose inside and seated at her desk to do some homework, before I promised her we'd play together.

"Call me if you need help, Rosebud." I offer with a sweet smile and Rose nods with a big smile before she begins to eagerly write things down. I let out a content sigh and make my way back downstairs, where I find Scarlett having her way around the kitchen.

Looking closer I realize that she's pacing the kitchen out of nervousness. I clear my throat gently to announce my appearance, at which the blonde spins around and forces a smile.

I huff and smile back at her, while preparing some tea and cookies for later on. Well, that's what I do to cover up that I want to talk to Scarlett, about what drives her crazy. I keep taking glances at her, but don't dare to approach the topic.

Continuing to prepare the tea time for when Rose is done with her homework, I notice Scarlett about to leave the kitchen. I sigh, but she stops in her tracks and turns back around to face my back. "Y/n, could we talk?"

That's when I leave all my tasks at hand and hurry up to have Scarlett and I sit down on the table together. "Goodness, I feared you'd never come to me. What's bothering you sweetheart?" I ask with concern and the eagerness definitely isn't to hide anymore.

Scarlett smiles softly and she lets out a tiny giggle at how eager I have been waiting for her to come to me. She sighs, "it's about the call earlier this day."

"It was my ex. The last one." Scarlett quietly speaks and she keeps avoiding my gaze since now. I place my hand over hers in reassurance and nod for her to continue.

"Well, there's something you maybe don't know." She whispers and finally looks at me. Her gaze filled with what I think must be sadness.

My worst case expectations about what could've happened back then seem to come real and I let out a breath, "I'm so sorry for you Scar. Both of you."

But Scarlett only tilts her head, seemingly confused about what I just said. I smile awkwardly and continue. "For your loss?"

"My loss?" She asks with even more confusion, clear in her tone. "What loss Y/n/n?"

"Your... your kid, the second one?" I swallow dryly, feeling even more awkward now that Scarlett chuckles amusedly.

"Oh Y/n/n! He isn't dead or anything. How comes you thought that?" She grabs my hand tighter as her other hand finds my cheek. I blush from embarrassment and also remember Scarlett talking about kids instead of one kid, when we worked over the contracts back then.

"Well I, I just heard the baby news of yours back then and since I met you there wasn't any sign of uh... of..." I trail off, trying to remember the kid's name. It doesn't help my embarrassment.

"Cosmo," Scarlett adds in with a soft chuckle as she shakes her head a little. I don't just feel embarrassed, but also very curious yet again.

All it needs is a tilt of my head and she contuines, "Cosmo is living with his father."

I get even more curious about everything now and it takes twelve of my inner demons to hold myself back from bombing Scarlett with my tons of questions just now. Instead I just nod in understanding and give her hand a soft squeeze. "I see. May I ask, how are you feeling?"

"I uhm," she pauses, clearly not expecting this kind of question here. "I feel okay." Scarlett says, but her voice got heavy and she seems to swallow down threatening tears. I don't hesitate, but get up to pull her up for a tight and comforting hug.

I hold her for the time needed, until she pulls back a little bit, to wipe some of her tears that she quietly cried. "Sorry, it's just, I never really got asked how I feel about that."

"Hey, hey, don't. Don't apologize for feeling sad about something like that. I can tell that you're worked up about something since that call and I'm here for you now. You don't have to be hurting all alone anymore, I want to hold you Scar. Please let yourself be holden."

My voice is collected and filled with reassurance as I rub her back soothingly. A few more quiet sobs leave her mouth, but a soft smile reappears on her beautiful face.

"Thank you for being you Y/n." Scarlett whispers into my chest, burying her face into it a little. I hum and continue to caress her back.

"We can talk about everything. I'll always be there for you and Rose and also Cosmo."

"Y/nnnn! I need help!" I hear Rose call from upstairs, making Scarlett and I giggle as we pull away from each other's embraces.

"I guess that's my call." I whisper, before I plant a gentle kiss on Scarlett's forehead. "Let's talk tonight?"

"Yes please." Scarlett nods and gives me a soft and grateful smile, "thank you again, dear."

"Always." My lips meet hers in a quick peck just as Rose calls out more impatiently. I shake my head with a chuckle and hurry up the stairs to help Rose with her homework.

It really feels good to know that the second kid is still alive, though I feel sad for Scarlett and I wonder how that situation comes.

Looking forward to get more information tonight, I help Rose out with her homework before we go outside and to the park.

As the sun sets, we make our way back home and Rose and I prepare something for dinner to cheer Scarlett up a little. Of course Rose had a feeling that her mother wasn't feeling very well and so she asked me to cook Scarlett's favorite together with me. It all, while we banned Scarlett to sit and relax on the couch and look for a nice movie for us.

"Dinner is ready!" Rose squeals with excitement as she jumps onto the couch next to her mother, pulling on Scarlett's arm to make her get up quickly.

"Rose made your favorite, sweetheart." I inform with a warm smile and pull out a chair for Scarlett as they join at the table.

Rose giggles and she nods eagerly, "but Y/n/n helped me! Are you hungry mommy?"

"Ooh that smells delicious! Thank you so much my two babies. I really am hungry now!"  Scarlett says with a big smile and we soon dig into our meals, enjoying dinnertime together as the small family we became.
