Dean stared at their dead loved ones as he released his daughter, keeping one hand on her shoulder.
"Dean, do you think that I could speak to you and Sam? Alone?" Lisa gave him a look and Dean sighed. He should have known that this was coming. Jess must have sensed something too, because she chose that moment to speak up.
"Mom, Daddy and Uncle Sam have taken really good care of me. When I fell out of the tree and broke my wrist a few months ago, they had Castiel come and heal it for me so I wouldn't be stuck in a cast and they took care of me when Cas's healing me made me sick. And before that when I was little and those bad people tried to take me, Daddy helped the police get me back, and before that when Aunt Jodi and I were in the tornado, Daddy was the one who got me out of the basement. And-" She was cut off by Dean covering her mouth with his hand.
"Okay, I think that's enough of that. Thanks a lot though, for all of that helpful input, Pie Thief." Dean said. "Come on Sam." He said releasing his daughter completely as Lisa gave him a horrified and very angry look.
"Uh, I think I would rather stay here. If you don't mind." Sam said but held his hands up in surrender at the looks he was receiving from his brother. "Hey, if you don't hear from me in 15 minutes, know that I love you and your parents probably killed me." He whispered in Jess's ear and she giggled at her uncle's antics. Dean, Sam and Lisa walked out of the kitchen and upstairs, where a door slammed shut and they could all make out the muffled shouts of Dean and Lisa. Jess sighed a little bit before looking at the people she had been left with. Sure, they were her family but she didn't know anything about them. Mary spoke up first.
"Well Jessica, I don't know about your grandfather or your brother, but I for one want to get to know you." Mary crouched down to Jess's height. "Would you like that, honey?" Jess flinched a little.
"Sorry. And, yeah. I would like that." Jess smiled at her grandmother as Mary took her hand and they walked outside together, to the porch swing on the back porch.
