Joshua asked: "We're three-quarters of the way to Alpha Centauri, and they want us to slow to point-seven of light speed? Did I hear it right? Won't that add a whole month to our trip?"

David answered: "The ambassador said this meeting is a matter of life and death. Adara is here with us and says that she has deciphered their language, and their motive is not to harm us."

Steve asked: "Where are they now?"

David looked to Kim, and she said: "One million kilometres below us and slightly forward."

Steve said: "Adara, is this wise to meet these aliens after what happened?"

Adara said: "I told this visitor that we are not the reptile Family, but the species they attacked. I told them that we convinced the invaders to vacate our star system and our home system was destroyed by another species without provocation."

"The visitor says they are not the species that killed our star but need a meet us to physically verify that we are not Family."

Steve asked: "Did you inform the NINE and SP council that you intend to parley with the alien?"

Adara replied: "The council have advised us to proceed as we see fit but Eden will stay three hours to our rear.

Steve asked: "Adara, why do we need to slow to point-seven of light?"

After a few seconds delay, Adara replied: "The alien says that transferring between ships, even at this speed is dangerous but the risk to their Galaxy is greater."

She said: "They want to identify us before we arrive at Alpha Centauri. It leads me to surmise that the next attack will come there. We might learn something of value if we agree to this"

She nodded to David and said: "Luna, please throw out the anchor, chain, and all. David, tell our friend to reduce the speed at the maximum its ship will stand. We will match its deceleration.

Two weeks later, Adara stood in the vacuum of space as she exited the airlock facing the alien spaceship. Using her Graviton Tech, Adara moved through Eden's shielding and into space at point -seven light.

She wore an Impervium spacesuit even though she didn't need one as her internal graviton technology protected her from countless random particles that smashed against her. The effect resulted in a glowing luminescence that was brighter than any comet.

Those watching her transit the two-thousand-kilometre distance to the Krell ship felt they were witnessing some sort of holy angel in flight and a child yelled: "It's Tinkerbell!"

Had Adara been aware that she was observed from the observation domes to her rear, she would have waved, but her mind was focussed on the tiny ship in the distance that grew larger as she approached. She noted the ship was about six hundred metres long and three hundred in diameter. As she drew near, the ship rotated to present a large open airlock that dwarfed Adara's tiny form.

Adara could now sense the single Krell inside, and she felt a sense of high expectation from the... 'A dying Krellen?' They sent an old dying tree as an ambassador. She thought: "I guess it's the most expendable one."

'B' Sharp sent: "Don't judge, I have 'deep scanned' it. When you get inside, do the same. Remember, our rules don't apply when we deal with aliens."

Adara sent: "I will, 'B' Sharp, thank you."

When Adara was inside the outer airlock door, she sent a short tight-beam message to Luna, saying: "There is one alien onboard. It is harmless to me, and it is even concerned that there may be the odd plant spore floating in the ship's air. It does not want to leave a lousy impression by growing a Krell out of my chest."
