Time passes as the Eden fleet idle away from the Morfin territories at sub light speed as they take stock of their current situation and prepare to follow SP1, as Matt Black promised.
The NINE, plus Adara, enjoyed the hospitality of SP1 on its Graviton ship. In addition to hearing SP1's bomb shell announcement, they were invited to celebrate Peter Morel's eighteenth birthday, as well as attend his from the University of SP1.
Everyone knows that SPs operate on many levels, but SP1 has never done things by halves, and today was no exception. The past has seen SP1 initiate role play activities to entertain Peter and the GRAV Team as well as the NINE, and today was no exception.
SP1 wanted interactions with its friends to be fun and memorable. Especially since this last training presentation and graduation for Peter was a precursor to the grand announcement that SP1 wanted to broach. The announcement that, until now, Matt Black had refused to allow it to voice.
Matt kept his promise, and because of the wording of that promise. It included complete compliance with SP1's demands. As a result, the group of friends found themselves sitting in stout wooden chairs with no cushions, behind tough-looking school desks in a 'Picture Perfect' sixteenth-century classroom.
The setting was created by SP1's Nanites, accessed directly from SP1's history database. The stage setting was perfection, right down to the windows made from small panes of glass quarrels held together by a lead latticework.
Imitation sunshine from outside the windows caused 'well-defined' rays that speared the lightly dusted atmosphere. There was the subtle scent of burning candle wax, linseed oil, and leather-bound books permeating the air. Everyone loved SP1's authentic environments and role play, arguably more than SP1. It was the way of life on SP1 as far back as Peter Morel could remember, and no one present today would be anywhere else for a fist full of dollars.
The door creaked open on its ancient hinges, and an authentic simulacrum of Sir Isaac Newton entered. He was complete with wavy shoulder-length hair, aristocratic nose, and sixteenth-Century dress code. Of course, he tossed an apple into the air in one hand as he entered.
Sir Isaac Newton stopped next to the teacher's desk on the raised platform facing his students. He tossed the apple into the air for one last time, and it hung there as if sitting on an invisible platform. Then Sir Isaac put both fists on his hips and said: "Good morning, students. My name is 'Sir' Isaac Newton."
Those present stood and bowed, then in classroom monotone said: "Good morning Mr. Newton."
Sir Isaac Newton said: "Please be seated class. Today is a special day as you no doubt guessed."
Dramatically, he turned to the large old writing board, claimed a dirty old piece of chalk and wrote... 'ABOUT GRAVITY,' in big, bold letters.
Then taking the pointer, he tapped the board and asked: "Peter Morel, why does control of gravity give Human's control of the ultimate power in the known universe?
Peter said: "I don't understand why controlling gravity makes us more powerful than any other species who don't control it. How do we know what exotic weapons are out there in the hands, or whatever, of exotic aliens?"
Isaac answered: "Not bad, I acknowledge that you have a fair point, Peter, but you must consider the universe itself, to place gravity in its rightful place on the scale of creation and destruction." Then SP1 Isaac started the apple spinning in the air.
Peter said: "With respect, Sir Isaac, you can make stuff float, and spin. Will you please tell me 'Exactly' what Gravity is?' I think you must understand it better than anyone in the universe, as you not only identified its existence in the sixteenth century AD, but in recent history, AS SP1, you invented methods to control it. Humans are currently alive because of that innovation. I believe that if you can't explain it, then no-one can."
