The NINE and the SP council gathered in Eden for an emergency accounting of the human tragedy on Luna. The meeting hall was full to the brim with humans. In addition to the usual attendees, this extraordinary meeting required many representatives from the general population of Luna in addition to Eden.

Those attending represented an angry and frightened population. Emotions in the hall were barely contained, but they knew that if they wanted to be heard, then they must follow the strict protocols dictated by the NINE.

The representative from the Luna emergency survival committee raised his hand, and Matt acknowledged him.

The representative stood and said: "Thank you, Administrator. I know that we are aware of the cost of this last disaster. It seems that very few have been spared the trauma of loss."

My own parents lived on level two and my partner was visiting with them when this incident occurred. I'm thirty-two and left alone in this life, post incident. I personally can't fathom how it is possible for us to have two administrators who will disobey a direct order from someone of Adara's standing."

Matt nodded and said: "We expected an attack would happen when we reached Alpha Centauri. The report issued included the Morfin strategy to destroy us. Had Luna not initiated an emergency vertical evasion manoeuvre the instant Adara warned, or if it detected a threat, there would be no Luna representative here today."

"It is usually something unexpected that leads to disaster. Frankly, arriving early or late would not have affected the outcome in this instance. No one could foresee being struck by these 'Hyperlight Needles' travelling close to light speed."

The man bowed to Adara who stood at the back of the hall and said: "If not for Adara's incredible self-control and abilities. All of us on Luna would be, very dead right now. Adara, your people on Luna, thank you for giving us our lives. We all agree to that."

Adara nodded, accepting the gratitude. Then the man said: "The general population acted quickly concerning the message I am to deliver today. It's so simple... Administrator, this mistake happened, and we all accept that what we need to do now, is save Luna and figure out how to prevent a situation like this happening again."

Matt said: "I think we will not be able to avoid bad situations. Instead, the underpinning issue we have always suffered is power or rather, the lack of it. There is never enough power. We all saw what happened out there. After the initial attack, and because of fast action by Adara, Luna and her fleet held off an all-out attack from a hundred thousand alien warships and their battle craft while waiting for Eden to join the battle.

Matt said: "The current situation is this. We must select an administrator for Luna in less than ten hours or Luna will begin to die as her Nanites are symbiont and need an Administrator to survive."

The representative said: "The Luna population have an idea, Sir."

Matt said: "Let's hear it as we are running low on time."

The man said: "We suggest joining Luna and Eden together as one Mothership called Eden. If we do this, then the new Eden will have two or more Infinity Battery's."

Matt had a rare moment as he was taken completely by surprise. The unexpected request needed him to pause, and he thought: "This could be a great idea."

Aloud, Mat said: "Explain, Sir."

The representative said: "We think that physically joining the colonies will mean that everything Luna still is, will be absorbed and preserved by Eden. The eco systems on life levels will adapt to each other and Eden will become larger and more powerful. As a result, we believe she will become less vulnerable to surprise attacks."
