One Minute War

Ten years slipped by with no summons to appear before the Judges of Prophesy. None could understand the reason for such a delay, but the gift of time was used wisely to fully recover from the trauma of constant war.

Matt convinced the NINE of the need to pass the Administrator gene to a backup pair of qualified bio-humans, allowing for immediate succession should the worst happen. Adara was the only person with the power to change or adjust Nanite coding.

Adara agreed to do as requested on the condition that Sharon accept a Nanite body built by Adara, and just like the one she built for Matt, many of its functions remained the same as her original.

Sharon's original body contained the administrator gene imprint. With her body in suspended animation next to Mat's, continuance of Eden's Nanites was assured and both administrators were free to leave Eden for any length of time.

Shortly after Sharon became accustomed to her new body, Adara received a message from the Morfin via the crystal ring she created for the Morfin secretary to Empress Dhia. Adara informed the NINE and SP Council that the Morfin have requested Adara and the leaders of humankind to visit them for a special occasion.

When Matt's ship alerted him that it had arrived in synchronous orbit above the capital of Morf, Matt told the ship to land as directed by the 'Morfin' ground control centre.

The ship came to rest one metre above the hard standing and a short time later, Matt, Sharon, Adara and SP1 stepped from the airlock onto nothing as the ship's graviton field supported them as it lowered them to the ground.

This time around, their reception was accompanied by tremendous fanfare. Flags and pennants flew everywhere, and the ground was covered in a red coloured material pathway that appeared to flow and ripple like the surface of water, stirred by a gentle breeze.

The Avatar floating beside Matt held a small chest full to the brim with the most beautiful cut and polished natural gems of exorbitant size. They were the by-product of mining the Resource System until there was nothing left but empty space.

At the palace entrance, the humans came to a stop and bowed with the required respect awarded to those of equal rank. The Morfin royal family, Empress Dhia, Consort Partner, Ct Far, and The Princess Mhia, returned the bow and came forward to greet their human guests. Then they escorted the humans into the great hall.

Adara looked around and spotted the Ambassador to the Krellen Empire. When Adara made eye contact, the tree bent forward into a bow as its front set of beasts lowered to their knees.

Adara nodded back to acknowledge him and turned back to face the empress and asked: "No energy screens?"

Dhia said: "There will never be energy screens between the leaders of Humanity and Morfin rulers. Our interactions have forged a bond that is permanently secured in Morfin genetic memory. You four will always be welcome into my home, and those of our royal descendants throughout eternity."

"We are so pleased you have come, especially seeing as it is purely to show our galaxy that there is a cosmic power greater than all of us. Your arrival will see this galaxy finish its million-year cold war. Even the Krellen ambassador has come to see you. Shall we retire to our apartments? Tarna is waiting there with a table set for you."

Matt said: "Empress Dhia, I apologise, but if we ingest any product while outside our ship, then our ship will not let us back in. Please understand and realise that is it for strict security and safety protocols and is outside our ability to control. Our technology is ensuring its own safety."

Ct Far stared for a few minutes at the implication of the statement then nodded and said: "Dhia, any microscopic foreign body might be used to gain knowledge. It makes perfect sense to me, but I'm amazed that your technology understands loyalty and wants to protect itself, to protect its master."
