"30 minutes!" Marco called from downstairs, right as I zipped up my dress.
It was satin and clung tightly to my body, the spring green color standing out against my tan skin. I let my long hair fall in perfect curls, courtesy of my curling iron.
I slid on a pair of black heels right as Aiden knocked on my door, his un-done tie hanging around his neck as I met his eyes.
"Absolutely not." Aiden said, walking over to where I was sitting on my bed. His eyes stopped at the diamonds around my neck and wrist, tilting his head. "Iced up I see."
I laughed, standing up and reaching for the undone tie. Aiden was dressed in a black suit, white button up peeking out. I did his tie easily, as it was muscle memory at this point. For years I did my dad's ties, liking how important I felt. After that I did Marco's and now Aiden's.
"Always iced up." I patted Aiden's shoulders, adjusting his collar. "You look good."
"You look too good." Aiden groaned, wrapping his arms around my waist. I giggled as his lips met my neck and cheeks, my arms automatically wrapping around his neck.
I heard music begin to pick up downstairs and pulled back, already hearing voices and drinks being poured.
"Half an hour my ass." Aiden grumbled, pulling himself off me almost forcefully, as if it pained him to do so. More voices, more drinks. "Should we go?"
"Ugh," I groaned, walking over to the mirror and adjusting my dress, double checking my makeup.
"You look gorgeous." Aiden said from behind me. "Did I tell you that?"
I shook my head, smiling playfully. "Nope, just iced up."
"It's true." Aiden shrugged, glancing me up and down once more as I turned around. "You ready to go? Let's party hard."
Aiden and I stepped out into the hallway, seeing the calm and collected buisness party happening below. Drinks being cheersed, small talk, gentle smiles.
"Party hard hm?" I said, raising an eyebrow.
Aiden looked down at the crowd. "Maybe if I jump off your stairs it will get some sort of rager going."
"We're horrible people." I remembered my comment from a few weeks ago about going naked at the party. "I'm surprised Marco is letting us attend."
"We're the life of the party." Aiden insisted as he followed me down the stairs, staying close behind me.
I was looking around for a waiter to get a drink, brushing past large men in tuxedos and girls in sparkling cocktail dresses. I wish I had found a sparkling dress as well, but I think the satin made me stand out a little.
Maybe? Maybe I was lying to myself and I didn't belong here.
Waiter spotted, I grabbed a glass of champagne from the tray he was carrying, sipping the sparkling drink and glancing back at Aiden. He gave me a look of disapproval, but I could only feel so guilty as I watched a waiter hand him a glass of whiskey.
"Marco treats me good." Aiden said, sipping his drink.
"How does he-" My thoughts involving the weird way Marco knew our location, were interrupted as Marco stepped into view, two men behind him.
"Maria." Marco grinned, stepping next to me. Aiden was behind me to my right, the two men now in front of me. "I would love for you to meet Mr. Sanders and his son Hudson."
Mr. Sanders was an older looking man, dripping with wealth just like every other man in here. His hand must've weighed 20 pounds from the amount of gold on it, and a cloud of cologne followed him. Hudson was almost an exact replica of his father, but with golden brown hair instead of grey. His green eyes watched me with a slight intensity, but my hand was out before I could hesitate for too long.
