I heard the first gunshots loud enough to wake me up, having fallen asleep while chained to the floor after my last meal.

And then more came, one after the other. I wasn't sure what to do, praying that Marco would come in here and unchain me so I could get to Maria.

It wasn't Marco that came, it was the blonde guy from before. I made a mental note to learn his name if we both made it out of here alive.

He ran in pretty frantically, unlocking the metal latch around my ankle. He was sweaty as he placed a key in my hand, looking up at me as I stood.

"Where is she?" I asked, hearing more gunshots in the distance. "Maria?"

"I don't know." He said, "But that will unlock her room."

I bit my tongue so I wouldn't say something rude about the key being useless if I couldn't find Maria, nodding. More gunshots.

"I'm going to start a van, once you find Maria run to the back of the building and go outside. I'll be waiting for you." He slid his hand down into his back pocket, pulling out a small, black gun. "They're going to try and kill you, so you'll need this."

I took the gun with confidence, sticking the key in my front pocket of my jeans. "And my stuff? I had my wallet and car keys in my pockets." When I had arrived they emptied my pockets and took my jacket, fully exposing my tattooed arms. For a split second I wondered if Maria had noticed them, knowing I always wore long sleeves around her to hide them.

I wonder what she thought of them.

"I'll grab them on my way out." The guy said, already heading to the door.

I followed behind him, looking out into the hallway. I had never really seen the building before, but right now it was utter chaos. I could see a control room to the left, many screens displaying the veiw of the room I had been in through the cameras.

There was a group of men running down the hallway so we ducked back inside the room, letting them pass before entering the hallway. There was blood splattered along the walls but no dead bodies to be seen, the guy from before running off on his own and leaving me to find Maria.

I heard more gunshots in the distance and headed the opposite direction, knowing I would get shot if I went down there. I was keeping an eye out for Daniel as I walked down the hallway, knowing it would be satisfying to kill him.

Yeah that was a horrible thought.

At this point the gunshots were constant, and getting louder. Marco's men were making their way up, which meant I had to act fast.

I didn't know where to start, knowing that trying to open every single room would be a waste of time.

Suddenly a man came around the corner of the hallway in front of me on my right, my gun already aimed at him.

"You're joking."

Jackson was the one standing in front of my gun, looking just as shocked as I did. He looked terrified actually, completely unarmed.

I grabbed Jackson's throat, pressing him against the wall before he could even blink. I pressed the gun to his chest, already loaded. "Explain now."

Jackson was struggling against my hold, both hands gripping my arm. "Please- I can help you."

"How?" I glared at him, the pieces falling into place in my head. I knew why he wanted Maria so bad now, the reason a popular guy like him would go after the one girl who didn't fall at his feet.
