Chabashira Sae's Point Of View

Sitting in the backrooms of the only convenient store on this good for saken island, I was surrounded by the last two colleges I knew were alive. Hoshinomiya Chie and Mashima Tomonari. We've been sitting and sleeping around in here.

Under no assumptions would I have believed that, one day, I'd be sitting in here, defecating in bags and eating canned food in order to survive cannibalistic corpses waiting to rip us apart outside.

What's even the point anymore... I doubt anyone in my family is alive anymore... nor do I care that much, anyway...

Chie came to my side, nothing my depression.

"Hey, wanna exchange complaints together, Sae-chan?" She inquired.

Her usually silky blonde flowing hair was tied up in a ponytail, clad with a desperate fake smile on her sunken face. The usual radiating aura she emitted was lost now. Even if she tries to act like it's still there to keep our moral up, we both have noticed how much she's sunk along with us deep down.

"Sure..." I replied, not wanting to discourage her attempts.

"I'll go first then~!" She enthusiastically replied.

"Hm... well, firstly, I miss drinking... it's annoying how Tomonari-chan has forced me to stay sober for 2 weeks now!" She pouted at Tomonari, who sat across from us, completely broken and quiet.

"As for secondly... I miss handsome boys... hehe..." She drooled slightly.

"And thirdly... I... I miss my family..."Her mood quickly dropped, breaking down the facade she's been putting up.

Finally, she quieted down, realizing that her efforts weren't working. Once again, the room went quiet as we pathetically sulked in our despair.

It was foolish to think we could've escaped...

One month ago, the outbreak started. As faculty members, news of the riots in the streets reached us first during the earliest hours of the outbreak. Quickly, me and Chie closed our classes for the week and made a mad dash for her car.

During our hazy escape, a car came caving through the gate at full force, giving us the signal that things outside were out of hand, and we had to push aside our sense of law to escape.

Chie didn't spare any concerns and went full throttle down the bridge, connecting us to the first island that led directly to the main land. Down the road, we quickly spotted decrepit corpses running at us. We tried avoiding most of them, but it was inevitable that many of them were hit in the process.

Worst of all... Chie-chan looked like she was having the time of her life... Good thing I never allowed her drive while drunk...

Around the time we reached the other side, my worries were given credibility after Chie completely wrecked the car by driving it into a pool with her recklessness. We survived but were surrounded.

That was until Tomonari came to our rescue with his own car, followed by Sakagami. We all quickly put our brains and brawns together to bulldoze our way to a safe location, later grouping up some survivors.
