Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's Point View
We walked for over 20 minutes after we finished up our preparations to fix the locks of the massive gate connecting our part of the island to the other.
Ryuuen: We really should've gotten a bike or something. Walking all the way from the dorms to the gate is a pain in the ass, especially with all this shit on us.
Ryuuen complained about the trip we have been forced to forgo with all the tools we required to repair the gate with.
Hashimoto: Well, we could use bicycles.
Hashimoto pointed towards an area where students used to be able to rent bikes.
Ryuuen: We'd look like jokes. I'd rather develop blisters on my feet than be caught being a part of a group of cycalists.
Yeah, he's right... we would look ridiculous...
Manabu: It's also much riskier if we rode on bicycles.
Hashimoto: Why? Can't we just out cycle the zombies?
Kiyotaka: We could, but that doesn't mean we'll lose them. All it will do is aid in forming a horde.
Ryuuen: Fuck, if we had a motorbike tho, I could totally imagine myself smashing heads in with quick drive by's, kukuku.
The sound any kind of vehicle would make is too risky... our main priority is to clean out this entire area, but accidentally forming hordes will be too dangerous... it's better for us to use a loud strategy after we've confidently killed a lot of zombies or when we're sure that most areas are cleaned and all that's left are stragglers...
We continued walking for 30 more minutes, rarely being interrupted by small groups of walkers or runners until we reached the broken gate.
In front of us stood the massive open gate, meant to close off both parts of this island. The lock was completely busted. We couldn't risk staying here in the open for too long, meaning that we had to rely on heavy equipment to temporarily weld the gate closed.
Although using such gear attracts lots of attention from the sound. Meaning that we had to have at the minimum two people on stand by at all times while the other two worked away on the gate.
I looked at the car that drove through the gate, seeing that it was in a relatively alright state. The only damage it had sustained so far was the missing bumper and broken front glass.
Looking past the gate was the giant bridge connecting the two islands. Far in the distance on the bridge stood walkers.
Manabu: Ayanokoji-kun and Hashimoto-kun, you both will be in charge of welding the gate. I'm sure I can trust you two with that.
We both nodded and took out our equipment.
Manabu: Ryuuen-kun, you'll help me with fending off any incoming threats.
Ryuuen: I was planning to do that anyway, kukuku.
I dropped the massive machine around the broken gate, plugging the device into a giant battery we brought along.
