"For safety, we need you all to strip bare and allow my team to search you."

The three guardians get slightly nervous, but they wear annoyed looks on their faces. "I'm already middle-aged with a walking cane. Do you think I would be able to do anything?"

"We want to ensure that the federation hasn't left any brainwashing on the three of you. Moreover, your counterparts used to work with the Federation."

They had no choice but to surrender all their items, including Jax's gifts. On the surface, his gifts looked like ordinary items: an umbrella, a small mirror, a little religious book. Even the guardians hadn't figured out how to use them.

They took off their clothes and allowed the guards to check. Joseph didn't like that the others could see Helena beyond her outer clothes, but he could only endure the humiliation. Either way, the armed crescent staff did their work professionally and did not put anyone on the spot.

As they confiscated their items, including their bags, Cassie cursed in his heart. Damnit. How was he supposed to identify a Federation Agent? Purely by vibes?

"Leo, we are guardians of Kiaria. After the war, we raised her in the Hans' countryside. That b&st@Ed has been gunning for her for a long time, and one day he took her away under our nose. We haven't seen her in a long while. Close to half a year. We heard the news that she's safe in Crescent's base. Can we please see her?"

"Yes, we are aware. Let me find a good time for your family to reunite. In the meantime, I'm afraid I have to make you wait here, senior. The security staff have to input all of your details first and once clearance is obtained, they will bring you to your allocated rooms."

"Thanks a lot, Leo," Cassie said as he smiled at Leo. (Ugh, can't believe I have to take orders from a kid who was barely legal when I left the organization).

The guardians really experienced what Leo shared they would, and even though they couldn't tell the time underground, they guessed that half the day had passed just like that. Then, they were split into various allocated rooms that were not near each other as well. (Looks like security is very tight here), Joseph thought to himself. In his years of security work, he would deem this place pretty careful. It was comparable with Jax's old residence, and in fact, better.

Helena was more astounded by the development of Crescent's base. She had heard stories that Crescent had always been advanced. For example, the previous base was known to be in space and outer earth. Now, it has been shifted underground. She could see how deep the floors went with a well-defined structure of the place.

They were allowed to have dinner together in the confinement room, and Helena didn't hesitate to share her marvel toward the structure, while Joseph talked about how tight security is. Cassie wanted to remind them that they were likely being surveilled and their conversations were being tapped, but he also wanted them to be themselves. Otherwise, they might be seen as bigger threats. They acknowledged the quality of the food. Despite being underground, the food tasted fresh and natural as well.

After what felt like an eternity, security came in and informed the guardians that they were going to put anti-magic bracelets on them. They complied and had a bracelet strapped over them. Cassie didn't like that. This was what he used to give Sans back in the previous base. Now the tides have turned.
