Mai tells Cassie and the others that she is going to go on a girl's trip with her other friends for a week.
This doesn't stop him from overworrying for her as well, she's blind. She feels sorry for lying but decides that this is the best way forward.
She meets Sigmund at a nearby town and takes their passports over to cross the borders to Hans. They're slightly afraid, as they spent the majority of their time in Crescent. But this doesn't stop them from crossing over.
"This must be where Kiaria grew up with the guardians," Sigmund says.
"Is it? What does the place look like?"
It's your typical town village. Very chill with lots of people around. They seem to be mostly possessors.
They continued to walk up the slope and began to ascend the mountains. Along the way, they encounter other believers.
After the war ended, more people started to believe in religion and subscribe to those values and one of the religions that was popularised is Mother Earth Nature's religion. It doesn't take them very long to walk up and reach the temple.
As they entered the temple, the fog started to increase and they no longer saw the other believers or travellers around.
"I sense that the both of you are not from here," they turned back and saw a medium appear in the fog.
"We aren't. We are from Serg."
"Come distance travellers. Follow me."
They enter a tea room which is old but still usable and make themselves comfortable.
Mai smells the room and gets a sniff of an ancient time. This temple must have been incredibly old.
"You may refer to me as The Elder."
"The Elder. We are here to seek answers regarding our companion Kiaria."
"What is it regarding?"
"Kiaria made a deal with the Devil."
The medium looks up and stares straight at Mai, putting her fingers on Mai's head. Sigmund stands up immediately to stop the Medium, but the Medium uses her other hand to warn him not to come close.
"You're not lying," The Medium says and she removes her fingers. Mai breathes in and out deeply, confused by the interaction earlier on.
"Part of her contract involves lifting the curse of the Mother Earth Nature God. Are you aware of it?"
"I'm not aware of it. Kiaria's name sounds familiar, but I can't tell where exactly have I known her. Recently, our goddess' spirit has returned, albeit faintly. I sense that she has slowly regained her existence as well as her power. Hence I had to touch your blind companion as there are too many coincidences. What is the full contract if you can recall?"
Sigmund knows that Mai was lying. Nowhere did Kiaria mention about the Mother Nature Earth. But she did Bring it up to see the Medium's reaction.
"I don't remember the exact phrasing, but it's along the lines that the curses related to Kiaria and her previous lives are to be lifted. She also told the Devil to remove herself from everyone's memories. Yet the both of us can remember her," Mai explains.
"Do you remember what the devil looked like?"
Mai looks at Sigmund to explain. But Sigmund shakes his head. He was knocked out so he had no idea what happened afterwards.
"It looks like the both of you don't know. But it does sound like a high-ranking devil. For a devil to follow an individual throughout their various lives means that the devil can track down this individual and latch itself either on the individual or the people surrounding them."
