(Modern AU) Ocean Mist and Happy Spirits - Eren x Reader

The phone on Eren's nightstand vibrated twice with the sound of a chimes whistling, the noise making him groan and rise from his bed in reluctance at the action. Sitting up from his laying position, he read the flicker on his screen-

-Beach day!! We pick you up at 12, so get ready now!

Groaning, he had just remembered that his friends had planned a day to go to the beach today to celebrate the start of summer, and he had slept in the last night of school. Glancing at the name who sent it, which was Sasha, he shifted his eyes to the clock at the top of his screen, the four numbers reading "11:34."

God fucking dammit.

He sighed before putting his phone down on the nightstand once more and shifting his legs to the edge of the bed, getting up to stretch out his wary limbs. He began to make his way to the bathroom and freshen up, before half-tiredly packing his things for today in his backpack - extra clothes, a towel and sunscreen. He figured that Sasha was in charge of brining snacks and water, so he didn't have to worry about breakfast.

He put on some TV as he fixed up his backpack and things, putting on his board shorts and combing his truffled, brown hair with his fingers. With the TV running in the background, his thoughts and mind were the only voices he could hear above the loud noise.

I better not regret waking up this morning. I hope today won't be a bad start to summer...

As he was surfing through channels with the remote, he heard the loud ringing and vibrating of his phone on the nightstand, shifting his attention and hand to the smartphone. Reading the name that said "Mikasa" across the screen in bold letters, he pressed "Answer" and brought the device close to his ear.

"Hel-"

"We're here. Hurry up and get outside before the tides get big."

She cut him off mid-word, and all he did was sigh and reply with a somewhat tired "Yeah" before hanging up and heading out the door with his backpack.

"Whoa Eren, you look tired as fuck."

Connie commented on his tired eyes as they arrived at the parking lot, Mikasa parking under a tree that gave the grey truck shade from the burning sun. He could hear the crashing of the waves from outside, as light breezes passed by in the background.

"It's cause I just woke up." he replied before getting out of the car, along with the rest of his friends as they began unloading the car. Sasha carried out the cooler with large, brown paper bags rested on them, which he assumed to be food and lunch for tody. Reiner and Marco carried the umbrellas, beach chairs, and towels from the back of the truck, while Jean carried down the large stereo on his shoulders, with Marco cautiously tailing behind.

Annie and Bertholdt helped unload the rest of the things while they stood on the trunk, as the rest who weren't carrying anything made their way passed the fences and into the sandy, feet-burning grains that rested between their toes, venturing to a place where they could set down their stuff.

Eren saw the countless other people gathered on the beach coastline - adults chilling and resting on their towels with the sun tanning their backs, children and kids playing in the sand with sand castles and running around, and other people just walking along the shore, as the ocean waves that crashed onto the sand was buried between their feet.

Maybe today won't be so bad...

"Ooh, I found a spot, guys!" Sasha happy chirped as she found an empty area just big enough to put everything - the stereo, umbrellas, cooler, and where everyone could rest if they wished.
