Alessio's POV
I've been sitting in the principals office for nearly an hour. The dean, assistant principal, guidance counselor, my science teacher, and some random middle aged man are also present in this room.
I jump when the door is opened by one of the secretaries. Dad trailed behind her with a serious face.
I slumped in my seat in anticipation for the scolding I'll later received
"Thank you for joining us today. Please take a seat next to your son."
"There is quite an audience in here." Dad remarked while sitting down
"Please do not be alarmed. Alessio is not in any sort of trouble."
"I'm not?" I asked shocked
"Should you be in trouble?" Dad raised a brow at me
"Maybe a little. I went a little too far at the science fair."
"While that is true we can't punish you for an accident."
"What exactly happened at the science fair?" Dad asked
"Alessio made piranha solution as his science fair project. His trifold project board was nothing short from stellar. He even reached out to the chemistry teacher ahead of time to ensure proper safety measures were taken but since it was still a very dangerous experiment we had to cut it short."
"What's piranha solution?"
"It's basically a bath of acid that dissolves anything with carbon in it." I answered proudly
"You're a carbon based organism."
"I know. That's why I was extra careful not to spill it or agitate my solution."
"Well if he isn't in trouble why was I called in?"
"Do you have a daughter Mr. Volkov?" The random man asked
"I do. Alessio has a twin sister."
"I figured as much. Your last name sounded familiar. I work for Columbia University. I think Alessio would benefit greatly from following a path similar to his sister."
"We all agree with Mr. Corbin. Our curriculum is not designed for a student of Alessio's caliber. We've devised a plan for Alessio to begin dual enrollment with our school and the university. We called you in to discuss it."
"Well I'm all ears." Dad nodded
"In an attempt to match Alessio's needs he's been taking regent math and science courses since last year. Last month he passed his AP Chinese exam with a perfect score."
"Good job Joey." Dad ruffle my hair
"We'd like for him to attend summer school so he can check off his sophomore year regent requirements. Then in the Fall he would attend classes at Columbia in the morning then return to school for the afternoon. What do you think?"
"I think it's an excellent opportunity but alas it isn't my decision to make. What do you want to do?" Dad turned to me
"I wanna give it a try." I agreed immediately
I watched as dad signed a few forms and shook hands with everyone before we left. When we reached the parking lot he gave me a tight hug
"I'm so proud of you Alessio. I know you worked very hard on your own to reach this point."
"Thanks dad. I don't feel like the dumb twin anymore." I smiled
"You were never the dumb twin Joey."
