Alessio's POV

"Joey, wake up buddy." I feel myself get gently shaken

"Five more minutes." I groaned

"You can keep sleeping but you have to go to your bed or the couch." Dad nagged

I let out a whining groan and began falling back to sleep

"Joey, get up. This isn't your bed it's the kitchen island that you're drooling on profusely." I finally sat up after hearing dad's harsh tone and saw that I had in fact fallen asleep while doing homework in the kitchen

"Sorry." I wiped my face

"Put your books away and go to bed. I'll wake you up in two hours to have breakfast."

"I can't. I drooled all over my assignment so I have to rewrite it." I sighed

"At least shower and wash your face so you can wake up."

"Okay."

Three Hours Later

"Joey, I don't think this is a sustainable school schedule for you." Dad tells me as he's driving me to school

"What do you mean?"

"It's only October and you're barely sleeping. What's going to happen when you start getting assigned more challenging homework?"

"I'm only taking four classes. If I change my schedule my school day will start first period instead of fourth."

"You're a varsity athlete playing two sports and you have to stay after school for clubs. On top of all that you play hockey outside of school too. This is too much."

"You never interfered with Adriana or Xander's schedule."

"Your schedule is worse than theirs. Also I did interfere with JJ's schedule when she first started her dual enrollment. I made her pick between cheer and judo which resulted in her nearly two year hiatus from judo. I also made her cut back significantly on training. Xander signed up for his school's soccer team and I made him quit immediately. Xander wasn't allowed to do after school activities or join a second varsity sport because his schedule was loaded with AP and honor courses. Yuri was only allowed to play hockey since he wanted to play in and out of school."

"So I'm the one getting special treatment."

"Exactly."

"I don't want to quit a sport." I frowned

"It's either that or your schedule changes. I'd personally prioritize your academics. You already play hockey outside of school so why don't you just quit varsity or quit baseball."

"I'm captain of both hockey teams and baseball is a spring sport so it doesn't interfere with my hockey schedule. I don't even participate in fall ball for this reason."

"Then you should add an extra class to your schedule and take a real elective."

"Dad just give me til the end of the marking period. I'll start managing my time better and fix my sleep schedule. I'll also make sure my grades won't suffer."

"Okay then you have until the end of the month. If I get a single complaint at parent teacher conferences you're done for." He warned

"Yes dad."

"What school club did you join?"

"Gay straight alliance. This kid from my English class was getting picked on in the hallway by some assholes on the basketball team so I told them off and walked him to his club. He's treasurer of GSA and invited me to sit in on the meeting. Everyone was super nice and the teacher in charge bakes a dessert for the group every Friday so I joined."
