Adriana's POV
It took an entire week for me to be discharged from the hospital. I had a really bad fever that took three days to break. With that came a really bad cold that turned into both bronchitis and pneumonia. I was coughing so hard I ended up breaking one of my ribs which hurts like a bitch. I got discharged from the hospital last night and am now laying in dad's bed.
"How are you feeling today?"
"Like absolutely shit." I answered without thinking
"Adriana." He warned
"Sorry, my ribs just hurt. Broken ribs are the worst."
"I know, they're an absolute nightmare and take too long to heal." He massage my scalp
"Daddy."
"Hm?"
"Do you think I can call Mabel?"
"What for?" He raised his brow
"I feel guilty for what I said. I think it was unfair to compare her to her step mom. It also put you in a tough spot."
"It's fine JJ. She deserved it."
"But isn't it your job as a stupid man to apologize to keep the peace?"
"We both said some things we shouldn't have but you needn't worry about all that. We're going to couples counseling. We have a couple therapists on my payroll who are willing to facilitate healthy dialogues." He looked disgusted with the whole idea
"Who came up with that idea?" I asked since it was clear it was his idea
"My mother did."
"Damn, she found out?"
"How wouldn't she?" I heard dad mumble under his breath
I guess Mabel snitched on him to granny
"I still wanna apologize."
"Okay." He nodded and took out his phone
He went to Mabel's contact on his phone and handed me the phone after dialing
"Yes?" She asked with an attitude
"It's me not dad."
"Oh, hi Adriana. How are you holding up?"
"I still feel awful but it can't be helped you know. I was actually calling to apologize for what I said. It wasn't a fair comparison to make."
"Thank you for apologizing to me Adriana. It really hurt my feelings but hearing you say sorry made all those bad feelings wash away."
"Are you coming back to Cuba?" I ask
"I'm not sure your father wants me there."
"He totally does! He's been moping around since you left. The only reason he hasn't called you himself is cause he's been tending to me. We'd both love to have you back." I could feel dad glaring at me
"Okay, then I'll fly out tomorrow with Xander. He's been worried sick about you."
"Sounds like a plan!"
I hung up afterwards
"What the fuck JJ?" Dad flicked my forehead
"Someone has to save your marriage." I shrugged
"I don't want us fighting in front of any of you."
"Then just don't fight."
"Easier said than done JJ."
