FLASHBACK

Lando's POV

I was nervous - my heart was beating so fast. Months, I spend months on thinking how I should ask her.

Was it too early? Maybe, but it just felt right, I was desperately in love with her.

I spend weeks picking out the right ring - went with Nathan, Billie and even Max, who wasn't much of a help.

She was coming to my apartment, just for a dinner before we went out to a new club, or that's what she thought at least.

It wasn't just a dinner - it was the dinner.

I made sure everything was perfect. Lots of candles, ordered dinner because I couldn't cook for shit, champagne.

I was ready, hopefully she would be too.

She walked in my apartment, absolutely perfect. She was wearing a white dress, she knew it was my absolute favorite.

"Wow, your place looks amazing" she said as she looked around.

"So do you" I smiled, pulling her in my arms and kissing her lips a few times.

"Champagne?" I asked. She immediately nodded with a little smile.

I poured two glasses and gave one to her, I was trembling, that's how nervous I was.

We ate dinner together. Bought red wine because it was her favorite, bought blankets - those white fuzzy ones because she couldn't stop talking about them.

I was ready to skip the night out with our friends and just watch a movie or cartoons together.

"So,um-I have to ask you something" I cleared my throat. "Okay?" She tilted her head.

I got up, grabbed the little box out of my pocket and sat down on one knee in front of her.

"Oh my G-" she put her hand in front of her mouth.

"I love you Nov, I'm absolutely, desperately in love with you" I said. "I wanna spend my life with you, make a little family, one or two little Nova's running around"

"Land-" she wanted to interrupt me. "Wait baby" I said. I wasn't quite done yet.

"I know it's pretty soon, we don't need to get married immediately - I just want to prove to you that you're the only one"

I opened the little box, showing her the beautiful ring, I spend weeks on picking out.

"Nova, do you wanna marry me?"

"Lando I-" she put her hands on her legs, looking down at me. She was looking in my eyes and I was already suspecting this wasn't gonna turn out how I imagined it.

"No"

And my world stopped - tumbled down.

"Oh-okay" I stuttered. "Why? Did I do something wrong?"

"No" she said again. But there was no emotion in her face.

As if I asked a casual question like if she wanted more wine or something.

I fucking asked her to spend her life with me and all I got was a no.

"Then why don't you wanna spend your life with me?"

She got up from the table, which made me get up too. "It's not you Lando, it's me"

"What do you mean baby?" I grabbed her hand, holding it into mine and rubbed her palm softly with my thumb.

She looked down at our hands, biting the inside of her cheek, obviously holding back her tears.

"It's just not right" she said as she looked back up at me. "Not right? Why? Why isn't it not right?"

Stop talking in riddles.

She shrugged, let my hand fall out of hers and walked to the balcony.

What was happening? This wasn't happening. Please tell me she made a sick joke.

I walked after her, stood next to her and put my hands on the railing.

We just stood there in silence, I felt like she needed it. Even though I needed answers.

She looked up and sighed.

"The stars just don't look right"
