Deja Vu

For LovelyCristeen HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNNIE!! I'm presenting you this oneshot as a gift!! After watching the Deja Vu MV, I thought of writing this fr fr. This is actually a mix of my Tyunning draft I wrote long ago, and now it's for you! I hope you enjoyed reading this T-T It's not one of my bests, but I wanted to write this for you. Happy but again to one of my fav persons on this Orange app!

"I never stopped waiting for you..."

Taehyun sighed as he looked at his phone, trying to weigh his options. Huening Kai, who's now his ex, had just texted to ask him to meet him at their favourite restaurant, but the thought of seeing him again made his stomach sink.

On the one hand, he felt like he owed him a final Goodbye. On the other hand, he wasn't sure if he was ready to see him yet.

"Maybe, just one last time." Taehyun sighed, finally making up his mind to go meet his ex.

He walked down the familiar road, the cold air of an Autumn night hitting his bare-face directly, which made him shiver a little. As he walked down the road, he also walked down the memory-lane of their bitter-sweet past which they built together.

He looked at the restaurant nearby on the corner, thinking about the memories related to that place with a nostalgic smile on his face.

"Kai loved this place..." He thought.

Taehyun stood in front of the restaurant, unable to decide whether or not to go in. The restaurant was his and Kai's favourite spot, and the memories associated with it were both sweet and painful. On one hand, it would be nice to see him and talk things over, but he was unsure if a reconciliation was the right option, because he knows...once he sees the other again... he'll lose his strength and come back running to him despite their promise of ending things for the better.

He took a deep breath, finally entering the familiar and Cosy space, as the Cashier smiled at him. Him and Kai used to come here very often, and the Cashier lady was fond of the two. He silently made his way inside, to the assigned table where Kai texted he would be waiting.

"Why am I so nervous? It's just Kai." Taehyun thought as he tried to calm his racing heartbeat upon the thought of seeing his ex. He expected to feel a wave of anxiety, attachment and fear after seeing his ex, but all he felt was confusion and longing.

"H-huh?" Taehyun's eyes squinted in confusion, as he looked at the empty table, with no sight of the bright-eyed brunette, but only a bouquet of flowers and a note.

"I still hope that one day, we will look at the moon together, like we used to."

Those were the words written on the note, as the bouquet of white tulips which symbolises forgiveness and a hope for better future laid on the table, untouched.

"He left a while ago, can you please take these away if you're meant to have it? We have people coming in." The waitress said, which made Taehyun snap out of his thoughts, and come back to reality.

Kai had left, he left after waiting for him to come. He was late. He lost his last chance to see the one he used to love...no...the one he still loves.

He picked up the bouquet, walking outside the restaurant as the cold air hit his face once again. He looked at the starry sky, as a single tear fell from his eye. Kai left, without a last goodbye. All that was left for him now was this bouquet of tulips and a note which hoped for a tomorrow which would never come. Why? Because Taehyun's moon will never go down, and the sun named Kai won't be greeting him for a Tomorrow.

He had lost his chance.

Or had he?

His feet refused to stop, as he kept running towards that one place. Their place, which was their spot. A place only the two knew of, their own magic island.

"

Say my name. I'll hug you tight, as promised on the first day."

"Kai!!"

"Taehyun?"

One pair of eyes wide in shock and the other pair in tears, melted into one warmth of familiarity.

"We can still look at the moon together! I never stopped waiting for you Kai!" Taehyun yelled, looking at the pair of brown eyes he fell in love with, long years ago. The same familiar honey pools of warmth which used to be the cure for his aching heart, and the arms he loved to seek shelter in when the reality seemed too harsh to handle.

"But what about our decision?" Kai stuttered, his hands shaking as he took the hold of Taehyun's smaller ones, afraid he'll lose him again if he lets go.

"Fuck it. Fuck the decision Kai. I don't want a future without you in it. I don't need a future which doesn't includes you." Taehyun mumbled with a trembling voice and quivering lips, fingers lacing with Kai's, fitting perfectly between the crevaces of Kai's fingers, as if they were molded for Taehyun to interlace his fingers with.

"My future is you, Kai." Taehyun whispered, using his free hand reaching up to wipe the drops of tears flowing down Kai's cheeks, looking at him with a smile, despite his own tears blurring his vision.

"Then say it louder. Say it that you want me here. Tell me to not go." Kai begged, cradling Taehyun's face in his hands, biting his lips to not let out embarrassing sounds of crying.

"I promise you over and over. My future is you Kai. I need you here, with me." Taehyun replied with a small smile forming on his lips.

He was sure. He can't imagine a future, which doesn't includes Kai. Kai can never be an ex, because he's supposed to be his eternity. If Kai is ready to not leave, he's ready to not let him leave as well.

"I'm here Taehyun-ah. I will keep our promise." Kai whispered back, sealing their eternal promise with a touch of his soft lips over his, assuring his lover that he will always call his name, no matter what; that he will never stop waiting, no matter how far he is.

"Let's go home."

"Yeah. Our home."

"Amid all the ruins, our place of promise...
You're the one that waited for me. I remember the answer, I finally found you.
My future is you."
