Julie ran out of the event center with [Name]'s hand in hers. She ran with a determined expression that told [Name] she had no intention of stopping. She fumbled behind her, red from her heavy breathing.

She stopped in front of a luxurious black car. She pulled at the driver's door handle, but the door didn't open. "Shit." She huffed, her breathing coming out ragged. [Name] looked over at her as she panted. "No key..?"

Julie shook her head. They stood in silence for a minute before Julie lit up. "I have an idea." She turned around, eyebrows raised to her blonde hairline. [Name] didn't know if she should help her, but she knew she wouldn't be given much of a choice.

"You're an engineer, aren't you?" Julie walked up to her with a sly expression and a hand on her hip. Reluctant, [Name] nodded. "You wouldn't know how to hot wire a car then, would you, pet?" Julie's smirk grew wider.

[Name] grinned, a fire being lit inside of her at the offer. "Glad you asked." She studied the car's model and how old it might be. She pulled a pin from Julie's hair, blonde stands falling down her face. For a moment, [Name] just looked at her to take her beauty in. "You're...you're really pretty, Julie. You know that?" She smiled softly.

Julie smiled back, her cheeks going a darker pink beneath her eyes. "Thank you, pet." She looked away, trying to gather herself to keep her mind clear and her heart settled.

[Name] gave a quick nod and snapped from her state. She picked the car door lock, hearing the door click as a sign of being unlocked. "Bingo." [Name] grinned as she leaned under the dashboard.

She pulled her hands into the ignition, trying to locate the motor wire. She fumbled around for a bit longer before yanking two out and twisting them together.

After a few moments of tinkering, the engine started and [Name] cheered. She got up from under the dash, holding a thumbs up to Julie. "I think I got it." She grinned. Julie gave a soft laugh as she got in the driver's seat and [Name] crawled over to the passenger side.

And into the night they drove, leaving their dust in the rearview.

"Where is she?" Dolly inquired while Molly stuffed her face with the shrimp cocktail she had gotten from the bar. Cod turned his head back and forth, scoping the scenery for [Name].

"Think she ditched?" Molly muttered between bites. Dolly shook his head, fidgeting with the fork in his hand. Cod groaned. "We don't have to wait for her." Cod leaned his head back, pulling at his tie. "She's probably still in the bathroom."

Walden disappeared back behind the stage when he concluded his speech. The dining room fell quiet, filled with whispering chatter. But a sudden shout came from backstage, followed by a slam of fury.

"Think that had anything to do with it?" Molly shoved another shrimp in her mouth, speaking in a loud enough tone for everyone to hear her.

Walden ran out from backstage with a furious face and his blue pompadour now messy. He glanced over at the table where Cod and the twins sat. He snarled and walked off.

"Where is my wife?" He walked up to Carmella, the veins in his forehead pulsing. Carmella seemed calm. Annoyed, almost. "She took the car and left." She explained easily. He clenched his jaw and balled his fist. There went his way home.

"And where is [Name]? She's missing from her seat." His knuckles cracked from how tightly he held his fist. Carmilla noticed this but didn't flinch. "Maybe she's trimming the flowers." She gave a snarky remark by turning around and walking back to her table where er wife waited eagerly for her. Walden stood there in quiet wrath, letting it consume his body.

"Want to tell me why we're driving eighty miles per hour on the freeway?" [Name] shouted over the sound of the wind whipping through her hair as they sped through the city. Julie furrowed her eyebrows a bit, chewing on the insides of her lips.

But she knew that it was either bottling up her emotions for Julianne or finally talking to someone and being truthful.

"Walden is being a jackass. And I didn't want to go alone." She explained, glancing out the window as neon lights passed them by like shooting stars. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to drag you out with me." She pursed her lips together.

[Name] rested a hand on her pale pink shoulder, her thumb rubbing her gently to soothe her. "I like it out here, don't worry. You don't have to go through it alone." She grinned in an attempt to cheer her up. And it worked, the corners of Julie's lips pulling back into a smile.

"Husbands are jackasses," Julie remarked, letting out a small sigh while she kept her grin. [Name] nodded. "Husbands are jackasses."

Julie pulled into the driveway of her house. For a moment, [Name] just stared in silence. The house was gorgeous from the outside, fenced with perfectly trimmed hedges and rows of concrete. The house itself was a gorgeous gray cobblestone, and the roofs were extended by black shingles.

[Name] grew up in the vast void of darkness in the Dream Void, her bedroom being mostly an illusion. Four walls crafted by hallucinations, floors that didn't exist. Before that, she lived with her birth parents in a house she didn't remember.

This was a surprise. It was like a zoo exhibit, something she only read about in books. But Walden came from a prestigious family. He'd live in a house like this.

Julie got out of the car and walked around to open [Name]'s door. "What's wrong? Cold feet?" She smirked as she leaned on the hood of the car. A little flustered by the sultry tone in her voice, she shook her head.

"Good." She held her hand out to [Name], taking a step back so she'd have room to get out of the vehicle. She took it, feeling the difference between their hands. [Name] had calloused hands from wearing her gloves and always working. Julie's hands were sharp, almost like knives from her nails. But her skin was soft.

She got out of the car and the two women walked into the large house.

Into the garden, [Name].
