Harold slept peacefully in the field, his dark indigo hair brushing softly against his face. He rarely got the chance to sleep in peace on the surface realm, being outside of the Dream Void often making him uneasy. When he found peace, he treasured it.

That peace drifted away when a little girl lightly tapped his face. His eyes shot open, white pupils shining in the girl's face. "Look." [Name] whispered, waving Wally over. A timid little boy, not much older than she was, came closer to Harold with his hands cupped together.

"Show him, Wally." [Name] bounced where she stood. Wally opened his hands, showing the demon man a dandelion. Harold failed to see the appeal of the weed, his mind too barren of joy to see meaning in it. He and Wally both seemed to be unamused.

But when Harold saw how happy his daughter was in the presence of the weed, he smiled. He picked up the dandelion, examining it with care. "Isn't it pretty?" The naive little girl smiled from cheek to cheek, enthralled by the sight.

She rarely got to leave the Dream Void, her protective father only letting her leave when he had something important to do on the surface realm. Everything she saw was beautiful to her. Even the worst of things.

"It's lovely, child."

Because who would he be to take the beauty away from her?

Forever was a long time. But forever would be even longer if [Name] didn't finish her paperwork. All these long hours of working, yet she had hardly made progress. She would surely be in her office for the remainder of the day.

She stared down from her office window at the machine studio below. She glanced at her workbench, the table practically begging her to keep working on her machines.

But no. She had a mountain of things to do as it was, not even wanting to think about the overtime. She looked around her desk, staring at the mess she had made of it. The photos she had of her father and friends stuck out to her the most.

She hadn't seen her father in months. He rarely wanted to leave the Dream Void, and he was incredibly busy. 'I'll visit when fate allows it' was what he would tell his daughter. But having no other family, she clung to him like she were still a child.

The other photos were of her friends. Her oldest friend, Cod, had his middle finger held up to the camera in confidence, His long blue tentacle-like hair shimmered against his teal and scaled skin. She remembered that night clearly.

The reminding thought put her back at ease. "Alright." She exhaled, her shoulders heaving up and down as she took in a breath. "Let's document some payroll."

"For the last time—" Walden was quickly cut off by his angry wife. "No. Don't pull that card. I ask you to come home at least once a week to see me and your daughter, but you just don't listen, do you?" She taunted him, walking up to him in fury. "I'm sick and tired of it, honestly." She glowered up at him. He looked back at her, her blonde hair roughly dragging to her hips.
