! TW: smoking shit you shouldn't smoke !
"Could you repeat that one more time?" Dolly grunted as he and Molly did their picture-perfect handstand on the tightrope hanging from their balcony.
"You got your driver's license revoked, right?" [Name] sat on the railing, indulging in a rolled-up joint of incense ashes. Now balancing completely off Molly's arm, Dolly had a lot less on his shoulders. Literally. "Sure did. Thanks to a certain someone." He shot his sister a sideways glance.
"Then can I borrow your truck?"
Both Dolly and Molly looked surprised. "What about your vehicle? What's wrong with it?" [Name] didn't have the heart to tell Dolly she didn't want to be recognized by Walden, but Molly, on the other hand...
She wobbled as she stood on the railing, leaning over enough to whisper into Molly's ear. With a shit-eating grin on her face, she gave a nod. "Sure. Here are the keys." She tossed [Name] the truck keys out of her denim pocket. "Whoa- Moll's- what the fuck!?"
But unfortunately, [Name] was halfway down the road.
It was now or nothing, and she had to do something or she wouldn't be able to live with herself. Demon or not, she loved Julie.
The clouds began to grow gray. "Shit." She winced, digging around for an umbrella as the sky drizzled. No time to stop. and even if there was time, [Name] would ignore it.

Julie had her bags packed and had everything she owned in a small ensuite of luggage and suitcases. When she looked around at it all, it truly didn't seem like much. The house she'd lived in for so long felt so cold now.
The rain fell hard on the roof and window. So much so that if she stopped to listen, she could count each drizzle.
How did her life come to this? She was fine as a wife, she was fine with Walden, and she was fine with who she was. Why did Julianne have to make it complicated? Why was she suddenly losing it and falling for [Name]?
Eventually, the sound of drizzling rain on a tin roof was replaced with the pop of smoke and rev of a vehicle. It didn't sound like Walden's silent car, but more like the truck Julie learned to drive with.
She glanced out of the window as raindrops fell down the glass like tears. Storming out of the truck like a woman on a mission, [Name] walked up to the porch as if she owned it. Within seconds, Julie could hear a knock.
She didn't know if she was annoyed by her persistence, or in awe of it.

After a barrage of footsteps, Julie opened the front door. "[Name]? What are you doing here?" She didn't even bother answering before letting everything she wanted to say fall out.
"Julie, or Julianne, or whatever name makes you feel happiest, I love you." She furrowed her brows. Julie's eyes widened. But before she could speak, [Name] continued. "Walden was an ass to me, he still is, so I've done whatever it took to stay away from him and everything in his life."
She paused to take a breath. "But you drew me in. Seriously, black holes have nothing on you. I don't know what it is you have with Walden. You don't want me? I get it. But I want you to know that his cruelty doesn't measure your worth."
She took both of Julie's hands in her own. "You deserve to feel loved every single day, every single second."
"I'd say it would be easy for me to get over you and take our rejection, but it wouldn't be. I don't care about your burdens. If they weigh you, they weigh me." She squeezed her hand briefly, her thumb stroking her hand.
"Has it only been a few months? Yes. But they have been the best, craziest months of my life." She grinned, eyebrows arching back.
Julie stared at her for a moment, lips parted and eyes wide. She pulled her hands away from [Name]'s and walked out into the rain in silence.
[Name] stood still for a moment, biting her lip to hold back tears. She pulled out her umbrella and chased after her.
"I'm not leaving you like this!" She shouted as she dashed after her. "You'll just have to, I suppose." Julie retaliated. [Name] would never give up, though. Never on her. She was tired of giving up.
"No. I made a promise, and I'm keeping it." She finally caught up to her, holding her hand out with the hope that she'd take it. But Julie ignored it, and kept her back turned. "Do you think anyone keeps their promises, [Name]? Of course not."
She turned round suddenly, tears welling in both of their eyes.
"How will we ever know that if you don't give me a chance?" There was a pause of silence between them both. [Name] briefly squatted down, still holding the umbrella over Julie's head as rain poured on her crouched body instead, and plucked a bellflower from its roots.
She stood back up and intertwined the colorful petals into Julie's sharp horns. "Don't waste yourself on me. You have so much to give." Julie glanced over her shoulder. Her gaze held nothing but empty numbness.
"I'd rather waste my life on a woman like you than live with the regret of never seeing where this takes us." Perhaps she should've stopped there, but she didn't. "And that's no waste. Not to me, Julie."
"You're all I want. There's no life worth living without you."
The silence between them swallowed them both whole. It told [Name] everything she needed to know. Julie paused before walking away from the umbrella and back into the house. [Name] didn't bother keeping the umbrella over her head.
She let herself succumb to the rain, just standing in the mud as warm tears fell from her eyes. It was the hint she needed that she'd never have Julie. At least not while she was like this, in a state so low that she couldn't even look at her.
Or maybe ever, and [Name] would just have to put up with it. And though the thought of not having her stung, it was Julie's choice.
