Weeks went by. Weeks, and not once did [Name] and Julie speak. It hurt her terribly every time she saw Julie and Frank talking. Julie would look at her, she'd look back, and they wouldn't speak a word.
[Name] missed it more than she thought she would. "Why does she not talk to me anymore? I would've understood if she was trying to save face in front of Ophelia, but for nothing?" She held her knees to her chest on the department floor as Cod stood in front of her with lunch.
"Maybe she was only interested for a short while...just looking for temporary comfort. She and Walden appear to be on better terms now." Cod shrugged, sitting down against the wall beside her. That didn't make her feel better.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were falling in love." He smirked as he waited for a snarky and confused response from her. But when she sank deeper into her seated position, Cod got worried.
"I liked being around her." Like an angry teenager, she dug her boot heel into the dirty concrete floor. "She was nice. I thought she liked me." She huffed.
Cod paused for a minute. "And her flower? If anything, you should be terrified of her." He continued to snicker. "Or maybe you're into terrifying women." He nudged her with his knuckles pressed against her head. It earned no reaction from her.
"Maybe I should. Any way I could get to her without Walden being around?" She finally looked at Cod. That eased him a bit. "I happen to have connections with Axine. They told me about an opera they had scheduled to attend. They're sponsors, so it's pretty elite."
[Name] looked down at the floor again. "How do we get in? How do I get to her when she'll probably be with Walden the whole night?" She grew frustrated at the thought. Cod placed a hand on her shoulder.
"From what I know, Julie and Walden aren't the greatest when they're together. So if I were Julie, and I hated my husband, I'd use every excuse to get away from him." He explained it like it was the alphabet.
[Name] considered this. He was probably right, as he often was. "While you're at it, maybe try and tell her how you feel."
He was right again. It was now or never. This would probably be the only excuse [Name] had for a while, and she knew she couldn't wait that long. To see Julie...to hear her voice again...it meant the world to [Name]. More than she had ever expected.
'A pretty woman walks into your life and now you can't think straight?'

Dressed in their black ski masks from high school and their wrinkled leather jackets, [Name] and Cod stood outside the opera house and stared at the illuminated structure. Cod scoffed. "This is some rich people's shit." He grumbled, about to snuff out his half-smoked cigarette before [Name] stopped him and took it.
"Oh, no you don't." She took a long drag before exhaling and dropping it. "I miss Xanax." She sighed before they went through the bushes. "Tell me the plan so I know you remembered it." She whispered as they crawled through the dirt, the flowers corpse in her pocket.
"Easy." He grunted as they shifted through the symmetrically trimmed bushes. "I hoist you up into the vent. There should be vents in each private section. Keep crawling until you find Walden and Julie's, then proceed to quietly get out of the vent and wait for Julie to get tired of Walden." He explained with ease, which surprised [Name].
