Julie had sweat dripping down her face, neck, and chest as her body heaved with each heavy breath. She couldn't get comfortable in bed, her hair stuck to her face in sweat. Julianne rarely went so far as to invade her body.

But when she did, it was often fatal. "Your body shouldn't be inhabited by anyone but you." Carmella sighed as she looked over her notes and clipboard. Carmella, though it was her wife's birthday, came to check on Julie. "Arachne...won't she be mad at you..?" She panted as her weary eyes looked up at her.

Carmella gave a soft smile. "Arachne wanted some time with herself to adapt to getting older. She said it was a good opportunity to check on you, so don't worry." She gave a soft nod. Julie nodded with her, her body going cold when she shifted. Carmella's smile fell.

"She doesn't need to be in your body for any longer than twenty minutes. Even then, it'll give you severe fatigue." She explained as she wrote down her notes on a notepad.

"She was in your body long enough to leave the house, walk to the factory on foot, and make such an exhausting impact on Ms. Home," At the mention of [Name], Julie closed her eyes and hoped to forget.

But maybe not because she didn't like the kiss.

Maybe she didn't like how it wasn't her who got to kiss [Name].

"She's been in your body for nearly four hours. You're lucky your heart still beats." She groaned and rubbed her temple. Julie opened her eyes just enough to wish that her heart did, indeed, stop beating.

A knock arrived at the bedroom door. Walden, no doubt. "Come in," Carmella answered for Julie. The same wingwoman she had always been, for better or worse. Walden followed instructions and walked inside. Once he saw Julie and her state, she let out a heavy sigh.

"How is she?" It hurt Julie that instead of speaking to her, he coldly acknowledged Carmella, which wasn't a good sign.

Carmella let out a mellow hum, focused on her notes instead of Walden. "She'll need to stay in bed for at least a week. Keep her away from any mirrors or flowers." She gave a quick run-down of the situation. Julie watched Walden, waiting for any signal of emotion. To which there was none.

"Mm." His only response was hollow. Carmella stood, giving Julie a brief nod before walking past Walden and exiting the room. Dread washed over Julie as she peered over to her husband. He was void of emotion and any signs that could've been made that he was worried were invisible.

"Walden.." Her voice was gruff. His eyes didn't leave hers. "You can't blame me for what Julianne did. You...you can't." She slowly shook her head as she panted more. Walden looked away from her, turning to face the door.

"I don't want to, Julie. But none of this would have happened if you listened to me the first time. If you remember your place." He let out a rough breath as his calloused hands leaned into the wall for stability. Julie just silently shook her head. She had no energy for this.

"Walden, please.." She tried to speak but was quickly cut off. "If you had never made a deal with that demoness in the first place, if you stop making all of the mistakes that you make, everything would be fine. I'd be happy."

What about her happiness?

At first, she thought she felt upset about everything. But now that she looked at him, at how much of a prick he was being, her feelings shifted. "You taunt me daily. You control my life, who I'm friends with, who I am. I'm more of a doll to you...than a wife." Her over-exertion began to take a toll on her. Walden noticed and decided to take advantage.

"Because everything you've ever done has become an increasing burden. When we met, I decided to ignore your demon. I decided to see how things would work if you both followed the rules." He leaned over her, hands pressing into the sweat-soaked sheets between her.

"If getting rid of Julianne is what I have to do, I will do it no matter what." His breath grew heavy as his eyes narrowed down at his wife. Her entire body froze in fear. "Wa-Walden..what?"

He cut her off again. "I've been working on some things at the factory. Things that might be able to help our..situation." He gave a soft nod. A nod, as if everything was alright. Julie shook her head rapidly as her breath cut shorter and shorter. "N-No, Walden, no.." His voice became brittle as a lump of pain formed in her throat.

"Look at you, Julie." He slowly shook his head. "You're a mess. With or without the demon, you are a wreck of a woman." His hand clasped her shoulder as a shudder went through her body. "Let me fix you."

Julie's fists trembled, her body weak as she felt her body go limp. She felt so hot yet so cold all at once. Her body flared up in sweat as she felt her head spin. "Bastard..." She muttered weakly as she went unconscious.

"Julie. Julie." Hand gripped her shoulders, shaking her body frantically to wake her. She slowly opened her eyes, head spinning and body still soaked in cold sweat. Standing above her was Sally. She looked around the room, realizing she was no longer in her bed.

She was in the back of a vehicle. Ophelia was sitting in the front seat in silence, clearly lost in thought as she hugged her knees to her chest. "Ophe..?" She groaned weakly, holding her hand out for her daughter. Ophelia turned around at light speed and hugged Julie's arm.

Once she let go, Sally settled a pair of headphones over her head. "Me and the kid got home. Walden had you on the couch. Me and Ophelia had to hide in the bushes while we waited for him to leave. He's going to the factory, I'm sure."

Julie blinked in shock as she began to remember the events before she lost consciousness. "Where are we going..?" She lay her head back down against the car's seat cushions as her matted and frizzy hair surrounded her face.

"I'm getting you to a hospital."

Julie's heart sank. She sat up quickly, not caring if her head was spinning. "No! You can't! It'll put the factory at risk, I can't do that." She protested quickly.

Sally glanced at her from the car's rearview mirror. "Does it matter anymore, Julie? Walden's going to use his wife as a lab project because you pissed him off." But even after this explanation, Julie still couldn't agree. "No. If the factory falls, my daughter loses her parents and home. Who knows what'll happen to us if authorities find out?" She protested and sat up.

Sally went quiet. In the time she was quiet, Julie opened the door of the moving car and jumped out.
