right
so, steven decided he was going to make eden's birthday extraordinary.
he was going to pick her up and have a picnic with her at her favorite place.
cousins beach.
eden and jeremiah were blowing out the candles on their cake when the doorbell rang.
they usually got their own cakes, but they were keeping it simple this year because of everything with susannah, so they were sharing an ice cream cake from susannah's favorite ice cream shop in town.
"whoo! happy birthday!" susannah cheered and clapped.
eden and jeremiah smiled.
"happy birthday, kiddos. welcome to adulthood." conrad joked, earning a giggle from his sister.
"thanks, connie."
he nodded to her.
that's when the doorbell rang.
"i'll get it." susannah said and went to get up.
"sit, mom. i'll get it." conrad offered.
susannah was hooked up to a portable oxygen machine which made it hard for her to move about, but she managed.
adam was on a business trip in california (and probably messing around with other women), so he wasn't there for their 18th birthday. eden didn't really care. the people she wanted to spend her birthday with were there, besides belly and laurel, (and jace and lily who'd she'd celebrate with at a later time), and that's all she needed.
conrad went to open the door and walked back in with steven behind him.
when eden saw him, she pushed past conrad and jumped into her boyfriend's arms.
"you're here!" she exclaimed.
"hey." he laughed.
she pulled away and smiled. "you look so handsome."
"per usual." he smirked.
"do you ever get tired of complimenting yourself?" she raised her eyebrows.
"no, not really." he shook his head.
she rolled her eyes. "should've expected that answer."
steven laughed.
"where are we going?" eden asked.
"you'll see." steven winked.
"i don't know how i feel about that."
"it'll be fun, i promise."
"you'll need these." susannah said and handed eden the keys for the beach house.
"mom, conrad told you not to get up." jeremiah scolded.
susannah gave him a look, then turned back to her daughter and steven.
"um, why?" eden questioned.
"like steven said, you'll see." susannah winked.
"oh and take these." conrad said and handed them four condoms from his wallet.
"thanks, man." steven thanked with a smile and pocketed them.
"'course bro." conrad replied and hit his upper arm.
