eden sat in the floor of her room, hugging her knees to her chest.

she tried wiping the tears from her face, thinking they'd finally stop, but they didn't.

she heard conrad yelling at julia from downstairs and she shook her head before sniffing.

"i hate her." eden whispered.

she bowed her head and rested it against her knees.

how could this happen? how could julia do this? and how could adam do nothing to stop her?

she heard the door slam downstairs and picked her head up.

letting out a shaky breath, she stood up and trekked down the stairs.

she looked into the kitchen and gave julia a dirty look before going outside to see what was happening.

"of course dad did nothing to stop her." conrad said as eden closed the door behind her.

she shook her head and sniffed. "y-yeah, why would h-he?"

steven looked over at her. she had clearly been sobbing which made sense, she losing the last thing she had of her dead mother.

he went over and wrapped an arm around her and she rest her head on him.

"well what could he do?" jeremiah raised his eyebrows.

"jere! he doesn't care about us!" conrad yelled.

"he's right, jere! if he did...if he did, he would do something! not only that, but he would actually take an interest in our lives!" eden exclaimed.

"you don't know what you're talking about." jeremiah shook his head.

she stood up straight. "really? then name one thing he's done with you that you actually enjoy and have interest in?"

jeremiah just looked at her.

she nodded. "exactly. he hasn't."

"and this asshole won't even pick up my calls."

the door closed and they turned too see skye coming out of the house.

"did you know about this?" conrad asked as he stormed up to them.

jeremiah and steven tried holding him back, but he pushed past them.

"no, i'm serious, i'm serious. did you know about this?" conrad repeated.

"i-i didn't know anything. i swear i would've told you." they answered.

"would you have? really? because we haven't seen each other in ten years, would a day at the boardwalk could've been enough to betray your mom?" conrad questioned.

what he was saying did make sense, but eden didn't like how he was being mean to skye. skye wasn't bad, their mother was.

"conrad—."

"be quiet, eden. please. for one second just...don't talk. i want skye to answer me." conrad interrupted.

eden bit down on her bottom lip and steven rubbed her shoulder.

"listen, i know we don't know each other very well, but i-i wouldn't have sideswiped you like this." skye answered.

"connie, come on. what're we gonna do?" steven asked.

"i don't know!" conrad exclaimed.

eden went over to him. "okay, alright. can you calm down, please? you being angry and upset like this is not helping the situation."
