𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞

eden lied in her bed, tossing and turning. she couldn't sleep. after steven hung up on her during their short phone call, she stayed up thinking and wondering.

why did he hang up?

well, she couldn't blame him for doing so, but was it really about their breakup and what she had just said to him on the phone?

sighing, she got up and went to sit on the couch downstairs.

she curled up under her blanket and turned on the outsiders. she needed comfort right now and that was her comfort movie.

"what're ya up to?" steven asked.

"just watching the outsiders is all." she replied.

they were having their usual nightly phone call. eden had had a bad day that day, so she needed her comfort movie.

"are you okay?" he asked.

"i'm fine. why?" she lied.

"you watch that movie for comfort and when a person needs comfort it usually means they're upset." steven replied.

"i'm fine, steven, really." she said.

"eden, you're not, i can hear it in your voice. i'm your boyfriend, talk to me." he responded.

signing, she sat up and paused the movie.

"i'm just having a bad day, okay? i just...don't feel good." she replied.

"have you...did you..." he trailed off.

she swallowed. "yeah."

he exhaled through his nose. "eden."

"i know. i'm sorry. i just...i don't know."

"hey, you don't have to be sorry. you know what? let me tell you about tomorrow." he said.

"what?"

"tomorrow i'm gonna wake up, eat some breakfast, go to school, work on my valedictorian speech, then i'm going to go tux shopping for prom to match your dress, then it'll be time for me to come home, i'll do some homework and laundry, then i'll eat dinner, take a shower and call my beautiful girlfriend before falling asleep."

"that sounds nice." she half-smiled.

"yeah. how about you? what're you doing tomorrow?" he asked.

"um...i'm gonna wake up and drink a smoothie then i'll go to school. after, i'm gonna hang out with lily and jace at lily's place, have dinner with them there, then i'll come home and play some video games with jere before eating a dinner and taking a shower. then i'll talk to you and have you help me with my math homework before it's time for bed."

"that sounds like a great day." he said.

"yeah."

"does that make you feel better? thinking about tomorrow?" he asked.

"yeah. it does."

"okay. then every time you get upset, think about tomorrow. and you can always tell me about tomorrow."

"okay. i love you."

"i love you too."

signing, she closed her eyes and began whispering to herself.

"tomorrow, i'll wake up and have some breakfast then i'll go for a dip in the pool before showering and getting ready for the day. then i'll read a book. a new one. a happy one. a romance one." she told herself.
