Amari

I heard barking coming from outside. I just wished it was Aries, making his way back home but I know that wasn't him. His bark was different. I could hear him from a mile away.

I've had him since he was a pup and he's my first child. A 6 month old, Fox Red Labrador. He was actually a gift from my ex. They knew I loved pets and never had my own, so they got him for me as a late Christmas gift.

We don't co-parent cause I just don't want to have them involved in my life. I'm not gonna share my baby. Plus, they can get their own dog.

Kam was cuddled up with me on the couch. I looked up at her sleeping peacefully. I don't know why she's so kind to me. She goes the extra mile even when I don't ask. I kept her at a distance for weeks now and she still hasn't switched up on me. I don't deserve someone like her.

She just too precious. I can't think of adding her into my hectic life. I already have my internship and school. A girlfriend is just a lot to deal with, especially on top of losing Aries.

I sigh and simultaneously there was a knock on my door.

It must be Aneesah with that loud ass knock. Crazy thing is, Kamryn didn't even budge. I guess she was more tired than she seemed.

I get up and open the door. It wasn't my best friend even if I squinted my eyes really hard. Why would my ex just pop up at my house like this?

"It's all on instagram. I know you lost him." Drew said.

Popping up at my house was only warranted cause of Aries

Popping up at my house was only warranted cause of Aries. Other than that, I had nothing to say.

"You gone let me inside?" Drew asked.

"For what?" I ask.

"I just wanna talk to you." He says, hands rimming his pants.

"No bullshit, Drew" I say as I mug him.

"Aight." He said, biting his top lip.

I open the door and he steps inside. He starts taking a few too many steps.

"Unh uh. Stay right here." I say, slapping my hand in front of his shoulder. Where he thought we was going? To my room? Fuck wrong with him?

"Aight. Sheesh." He throws his hands up in surrender.

I sigh. "Tell me what happened though. How you lost him?" He asks.

"I lost him at the park by Blue Grove. He was with me at first. I stopped us so I could turn in an assignment I had due by 8 a.m. I looked up and he was gone."

"Fuck Amari. You wasn't watching him?" He asks as he smacks his teeth.

This definitely isn't helping me relieve any stress right now. He was actually making it worse.
