"Not surprised," I commented under my breath.

In less than two seconds, I turned on the LED lights that wrapped around my headboard and bed frame. At first, the lights were set to green, so I changed it to red with the palm-sized remote that was sitting on my nightstand.

Then, I turned on some music and Soon As I Get Home by Faith Evans started playing:

Your love is wonderful, yeah
And I don't wanna lose you
So baby...

While I was reaching for the nightstand in order to put my phone down, I felt Amari moving on the bed. As soon as the music got quiet during the intro, I turned back to Amari and she was sitting upright, waiting for me. Finally, my hands flocked to her waist and then her jaw.

With a devious smile, I took my sweet time as I pulled Amari close to me, leading her a couple inches away from my lips.

"Tell me you're sorry," I said, then the chorus dropped.

"I'm sorry," Amari uttered softly. She flirtatiously bit her bottom lip while looking up at me with her charming, brown eyes. Her remorse wasn't felt, and I wasn't satisfied by her not taking me serious enough.

"Say it like you mean it or I will have you try that again while blindfolded seeing stars and stripes." I smirked while I added pressure to my fingers, gripping her jaw enough to impair her from disregarding my words, but not injure her.

"I'm sorry that I took it too far. I was wrong for that. I never meant to hurt you or trigger you." Her words escaped her lips more empathetically. Then, her hands gracefully touched my arm that extended toward her neck.

"Is there somebody else you rather be with?" I asked.

"No. I promise there's nobody else. I just wanna be with you," she convincingly replied, gripping my arm just a little tighter.

"So you was tryna make me jealous?" I questioned. I'm confused as to why she would say it in the first place, but some people really do have automatic mouths and don't think before they speak. She could just be one of them. It probably comes from how she was talked to in the past or even as a child. Words can really be a weapon, but I'll have patience. It's something I need to work on anyways.

"No. I didn't mean anything by it," Amari expressed while gazing into my eyes. Then, we both randomly crack a smile, so I let her go.

"You promise?" I held up my right hand and extended my pinky, then she looked at it before grinning as fast as her pinky met mine.

"Yes," she replied as she swung our linked pinky fingers sideways.

"I trust you," I declared.

"You trust me?" Amari asked. Her adorable face brightened up in a gratified kind of way. It seems like earning my trust was a big deal for her.

"Yeah," I answer, reassuring her happiness. I'm glad we both value trust highly.

I nodded slowly as we gravitated into a kiss that turned into our lips locking intoxicatedly. Seems we had more harmony than music coming through the speaker. Our heads swayed, but our lips stayed attached like magnets. The way our lips were smacking was firing constant signals from my brain to my box. Every kiss was long-drawn but bittersweet as our tangled lips didn't want to rest for more than a moment. I wish we didn't need to stop to breathe, but every pause is rewarded with a smack from our lips. I love to kiss, but hearing it takes me on a higher plane.
