Max's POV:
I'm lying in my bed right now, unable to get to sleep, which is weird because I always fall asleep on the dot. I'm trying to figure out what it is that could possibly be keeping me awake. All of a sudden, I hear someone knocking. I look at my front door, and I look behind me.
I see that the knock was coming from at my window, and to my surprise, it's El. She had managed to sneak out of her place and she was now at my window. I didn't want my mom to wake up, but at the same time, I didn't want to keep El waiting, so I went to open my window, and she climbs in.
Me: *whispers* "What are you doing here?"
El: *whispers* "I couldn't sleep, and I could hear Hop snoring from the other side of the cabin."
Me: *whispers* "Yikes, that's gotta be pretty annoying."
El: *whispers* "Yeah, and plus, I just really wanted to see you."
Me: *whispers* "Aww, really? Why is that?"
El: *whispers* "I don't know, but for some reason, I feel really happy whenever I'm around you."
Me: *whispers* "Aww, El, that's really sweet."
El: *whispers* "No, YOU'RE really sweet."
Me: *whisper giggles* "Not always."
El: *whispers* "Aww, come on now. Don't say that. You are, to me."
I don't know what's happening right now, but I feel really warm inside right now.
Me: *whispers* "Can I hug you?"
To my surprise, El smiles and holds her arms out wide. I slowly rush in and wrap my arms around her, and she wraps her arms back around me. The hug feels really good right now, and I didn't want it to end.
El: *whispers* "Can I stay here with you?"
El and I pull away from the hug.
Me: *whispers* "Oh, yeah, of course. You might have to get up a little early to make it back to your home before Hopper finds out."
El: *whispers* "Good point."
El and I climb into my bed. We wrap our arms back around each other until we're in a comfortable cuddle position. It didn't take long for the both of us at the same time to fall asleep, and that's when I realized what I needed all along. I just needed El.
