A/N: modified from a different book, set in modern age
Max's POV:
The first day of June was finally here, and you know what that means? PRIDE MONTH!! I know what you're thinking, why does pride month mean so much to you? Well, if you must know, it's because I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community, and I'm not afraid to admit it, but I do feel bad for the people out there who might have trouble talking about it with others.
I'm excited, though. I get to celebrate by going to the Pride Month parade that's being held on Hawkins Main. Here's the twist: I'm not going alone. I'm going with my girlfriend, El. She's always the girl for me, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Right now, El and I are at my house, putting on our outfits for the parade. My outfit consists of a blue mini dress, which is really comfortable to walk around in. With it is a spiky choker, a few rings, a few bracelets, matching blue lipstick, blue nail polish, and my favorite blue heels. I think I love El's outfit more than my own.
Her outfit is basically the same as mine, which we did on purpose, but everything on her outfit is purple, including purple heels. She even has a matching coat of purple polish on her toenails. She's so beautiful. Her purple lipstick makes me want to kiss it and wear it thin 'till it's gone (country song reference).
Her hair is pulled back into a pretty ponytail, while mine was in braids. Once we checked over ourselves in the mirror a few times, we grab our mini purses, and we were all set.
Me: "Ready to go?"
El: "I definitely am."
Me: "Me, too."
El and I smile at each other, share a brief kiss, and we take each other's hand in our own. We exit my room, head down the stairs, and we walk through the living room on our way to the front door.
Mom: "Have fun, you two!"
Me: "Thanks, mom!"
El and I head out the front door, close it behind us, and we head down the stairs, and out onto the street. The parade wasn't too far from here, and the day was warm. Soon, we reach the entrance of the parade. We both smile at each other, and we head through the entrance.
We looked around and tried to figure out what to do next. We decided to hit the drinks area first. We were both not old enough for alcohol yet, so we both got a soda and some cookies. El and I continued our walk as we were eating our snacks at the same time, which was actually not hard to do. The cookies were amazing.
As we continue our walk, we still couldn't decide what to do. There were so many things to do. We then see a booth with a person giving out feather boas.
El: "Ooo, we should get some of those!"
Me: "Definitely!"
El and I head over to the booth, and we each decide on a feather boa that matches our outfits. We both had the same idea to put the feather boas on each other. I wrapped mine around El, and she wrapped hers around mine. Now, we BOTH had on blue AND purple at the same time. The two of us smile and share another kiss. We are so perfect for each other.
We start our walk again, and at the same time, we finished our snacks and drinks, so we disposed of our cups and continued our walk. As we're walking, we see something we never thought we'd see ever in our lives: Mike and Will. They were both at this parade together.
El and I looked at each other surprised. We did not expect to see them here.
El: "Let's go surprise them."
Me: "Good idea."
As we move closer to Will and Mike, the anticipation of surprising them gets higher. Eventually, we're right next to them.
Me/El: "Surprise!"
Mike and Will turn to where we are, and they are both surprised and happy to see El and I.
Will: "Hey, you two!"
El: "We didn't think we'd see you both here."
Me: "We didn't think you two had a thing going on, either."
Mike: "Well, we actually just came out to each other yesterday."
Will: "Best time of our lives."
Mike and Will smiled at each other and shared a brief kiss.
Mike: "We did have a feeling we'd see you two here."
Me: "Well, you were right."
El and I hold each other's hand again and kiss. I swear, by the end of today, our lipstick colors will be matching. When we pull away, El starts talking.
El: "Well, I think we should all walk around together."
Will: "Great idea."
No One's POV:
Both couples spend the rest of the afternoon walking around the Pride Month parade together, partaking in every fun activity they had at the parade.
