A/N: modified from another book.
Max's POV:
El had recently broken off her relationship with Mike. I was a bit surprised because it seemed like they were doing great together, but I guess not. The thing that made everything even crazier was when El told me the real reason why she did. It was because she was actually in love with someone else.
I was a bit confused at first. She didn't tell Mike the reason, but she told me. I asked her who it was, and I could tell she was nervous to say. She took a deep breath, then said one word that I never thought I'd ever hear.
El: "You."
What?! Eleven Hopper is actually in love with me?! I never would have guessed that she was into other women. I was also kind of relieved because believe it or not, I'm in love with her, too. Coincidentally, I had broken off my relationship with Lucas around the same time El did with Mike. When I told her that, she was very happy.
She then asked me out on a date, and I was already so happy that I immediately said "yes." We set a time and place for it, which tomorrow. The whole night, I couldn't sleep because I was too excited. When the next day came, I got dressed in the best date clothes I could.
When El and I met up, her outfit was admittedly even more perfect than mine. I was so excited to see her that I just went and kissed her. She kissed back, and we pulled away shortly after so that we didn't forget where we were going.
We went to the Hawkins Movie Theater, which was built about two years after Starcourt Mall was taken down, to see the movie "Back To The Future."
When we got there, we were pretty surprised that there wasn't a whole lot of people, which is actually a good thing, because the fewer people there are, the quieter the theater is, sometimes.
When we entered our assigned theater with our snacks, we found our seats, sat down, and the previews started. Personally, I don't really care for the previews, but some of them were actually pretty interesting.
Once the actual movie got started, it was good so far. About halfway through the movie, I suddenly felt something touch my right arm, and it actually didn't scare me. But when I looked over, I saw that El had fallen asleep.
I wanted to wake her up so she doesn't miss the movie, but at the same time, I didn't want to interrupt her sleep. She looks so peaceful when she sleeps, and really cute. So I decided to not move as much and just let her sleep. To make us both more comfortable, I wrapped my arm around her.
I might've even played with El's hair a little bit while she slept, and it surprisingly didn't wake her. In fact, I think I saw her smile a little bit, which made the moment even better. Her soft honey brown curls felt so good to play with, and it was almost like she actually set me up for doing so, knowing how much I love it.
When the movie ended, El woke up, and she was pretty upset that she missed most of it, but I assured her that she and I could come back tomorrow and watch the movie again together, and she liked the idea, and even gave me a hug to show how much she liked it, and I hugged her back.
That hug made everything perfect for me. She had on a button-up sweater with her outfit, so I felt so warm with my arms wrapped around her waist. It felt really good, and I didn't want it to end, but of course, we had to leave the theater since the movie was over.
