Now for my favourite twist in the story..

Adiraj's POV,

Playing the flute in the dark night, thinking of the impossible possibilities of hers with me I sat on the compound wall of the Kamal Bhavan. Cold breeze blew against my face as all that I heard was the splashes of water against the pond of lotuses in the archers field. A smile erupted on my face as I thought she must be sleeping peacefully by now. I climbed down the wall and walked towards the sastralaya, thinking about the letter I sent this morning to 'her husband' compelled to write 'your wife' on the letter. My heart ached at the thought. Grabbing the bow and the arrows I stood in the dark with the least possible visibility. My kurta always constricts my movements so I always practise with bare upper. Opening my kurta I walked towards the aim. Standing roughly three hundred metres away from the aim, I blindfolded myself with my angavastram.

Bowing down I picked up a small stone from the ground and threw it towards the aim, as I heard the sound I aimed in the direction, waiting for a moment I let the arrow free . I smirked as I heard a satisfied stub against the wooden board. Tinkling of anklets hit my eardrum as I aimed towards the sound. I heard a slight gasp as the slow wind hit me, and 'her'. Lowering my bow I pulled the blindfold away to see her , standing before me, cowering in fear.

Moonlight hits her bronze body, making it beam against the silvery lights. She looked as if she got no sleep. Her gold nose rings glowing under the moonlight and the thin waist chain hugging her curve. The light weighted indigo saree clinging to her body as the sheer material showed her alluring smooth stomach to me. I inhaled as the diamond piercing on her navel gleamed from behind her saree.

"Sleepless?"

"Did you send a letter Kunwarsa.."

"I see, so you are not feeling sleepy, you should drink some warm milk with honey, it will help you sleep and also help you gain some weight..You are skinny you know.."

"I asked you about the letter.....................Kunwarsa..."

She said irritated. A hint of annoyance on her face and impatience lacing her voice.

"Hnn Hnn..I did send..."

"What are you doing here By the Way....That too ...naked"

Saying she looked away at the aim.

"Practising Archery.."

"In the dark?...."

"Darkness is reality Princess ... .Once you ace in the dark, you can ace in the light too, both are sides of the same coin.... Why aren't asleep Anyway"

I said, pulling the bow with an arrow again.

"The rhythm of the flute someone was playing stopped...Thus my sleep broke..I tend not to fall asleep in strange and different places.."

A feeling of joy erupted in me. She liked it.

"Okay, I'll play it often.."

She looked at me as I smiled at her. Her lips formed a 'what' as she blinked at me confused.

"I said, I play it for you often.....princess...Now good night.."

I walked away as an elated feeling filled in me. Climbing up the wall again I looked at her retreating figure in the dark. Taking out my flute I pressed it against my lips as I blew air into it, producing melodious raga using my fingers blocking the air passage.

........

The sunlight fell on my face through the filtered windows. I remembered our conversation last night, a faint smile on my face. Stretching myself I freshened up, going towards my peacocks when I heard soft , mellifluous and dulcet music being played. I immediately walked towards it knowing this came from the Natyam Hall in the Kamal Bhavan.

Was she dancing?

My heart fluttered at the thought of seeing her dance. But I couldn't enter the Natyam Hall, as I was a man and extremely distant and unrelated to her. But we had the compound wall. I climbed up again and ran towards the Hall. Standing behind the window my sight fell on her.

Her back towards me showing her curvaceous waist with that thin gold waist chain. She had draped herself with white saree and worn the lower part like a dhoti. A golden cloth draped around her bosoms and thin gold chained armlets around her bronze shaded arms. Her loosely braided hair reached her hips, swaying along with her. Her body moved with the tunes, completely engaged and absorbed with the Tal of the mridang, flute and the veena. Slight jumps and the elegant sway of the hips captured my heart, caging the performance within its walls. She turned around and it struck me. It ached to see her, like that.

Her hands moved in the alapadma mudra circling her face resting by her side loose yet elegant. Tears were flowing through her eyes marking her cheeks. There was no jewellery on her except a thin gold chain. She looked bare without the coined mangalsutra around her neck. No expressions formed her face to the tunes of the song. Only tears flowed and she hiccupped at times. I wanted to go and question her cries as the song ended. She stood still, in the middle of the room, as I saw the players and the singers exiting the room quietly behind the purdah.

She broke into loud cries as I rushed into the room. She banged her hands on the floor, letting the green glass bangles break, drawing out blood. I rushed towards her side sitting down beside her on one knee.

"Hey! What are you trying to do?"

I asked softly just getting more cries in return. She laid down on her back crying in the middle of the large hall,, my attention stuck on her wounded wrists, afraid of a deep cut.

"What happened Princess? Everything alright?"

I asked again hoping for an answer.

"No....thing...is...f..i..ne....Nothing..."

She could barely speak due to the incoming hiccups. She suddenly went silent and sat up, looking at me she asked me,

"Kunwarsa...Ain't I a prisoner, then why don't you just kill me, nobody would care....."

She again started crying as she said in between her cries,

"NOT........E.....VE..N HIM...Kunwarsa....He ..he doesn't want me....I'm..worth..less...I am...ugly...I am ...miserable....Just kill me please...I can't.take this humiliation anymore..."

I hugged her carefully as I whispered comfortingly,

"Hey, calm down, you are beautiful and not miserable or ugly, now tell me what happened?"

She hiccupped as she said,

"The letter......He wrote a letter....I'll show you..."

Saying she left me in a hurry and ran towards her allotted chambers, leaving me confused and clueless as I followed her.

A letter, who sent it to whom. What the hell is going on?
