4AM
"Who the fuck is calling at 4 in the morning?" Grumbled buck as he picked up his phone. He had an early shift the next morning, and was not in the mood to be woken up this early. The familiar ringtone of his mobile phone stopped as he answered the call- it was Christopher. Bucks heart raced as he answered the phone and got out of bed- it had to be urgent if he was calling this early.
"Chris? Is everyone okay? What happened?" Questioned buck, praying that nothing terrible happened.
"It's dad, I can hear him sobbing through the walls. I didn't know what to do, and I know he would ask for you. Please come" Christopher uttered.
"Okay, I'll be right there" he reassured.Buck was already out the door with his keys by the time he had ended the call. Worry crept over him, as far as Buck knew Eddie had nightmares, but never this bad.As he began driving, he thanked god that they lived 5 minutes away from each other.
Buck unlocked the door with his spare key, and ran towards Christopher's bedroom. He expected to see Chris worried and wide awake, but the sight he saw infront of him calmed Buck down. There was Christopher sleeping, with a generation old IPhone next to him. Buck smirked to himself as he remembered when him and Eddie went out to get Chris a new phone- that was the christmas when buck stayed at the Diaz's. He tucked in Christopher properly, as he heard the loud sobs and remembered why he came- Eddie. He quietly shut the door and darted towards Eddies bedroom, tense about what he would see.
When he opened the door, he saw Eddie with his hands over his face, sobbing. The sight crushed Buck in his heart, his gut- everywhere. He hated the idea of his best friend hurting.
"Eddie, it's okay," buck whispered as he gently woke up Eddie. He glimpsed up, breathing heavily and his eyes wide.
"Buck-Buck. The helicopter was going down- i couldn't save everybody. People were shooting at me and- oh god." Eddie choked out, his chocolate brown eyes tearing up.
"Eddie" echoed Buck, still in a reassuring yet serious tone. "You saved the lives of soldiers who wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for you. You're a hero"
"What about Christopher? Tell me he's safe!" Pleaded Eddie.
"Shhhh... he's in bed, he's safe. Go back to bed"
As Eddie rested back in his bed, Buck began to get up when an iron grip grasped onto his arm.
"Please don't... don't leave me." Eddie mumbled. It was there Buck realised that Eddie was shirtless, and crimson spread across his cheeks.
"Okay, I'll say right here then" as he finished that sentence, he comprehended that his hands were running through Eddies soft, silky hair. He quickly stopped and paused to look at his best friend, Eddie Diaz. Buck loved the way Eddie looked when he was sleeping, it was like a soft mess. It was soothing to Buck that Eddie was falling asleep, the nightmares long gone.As Eddie slept, Buck settled into his tiny space on the floor. He had tried his best to make it comfy, stealing a ratty old Star Wars blanket from Christopher's room, and using one of Eddies jacket as a pillow. As he relaxed on the uncomfortable floor, Buck realised then that it was only 4:30, and he had to be at the firehouse for 7:30. He didn't want to leave Eddie to wake up on his own, so he would have to get wear Eddies old clothes. That didn't bother him at all, but what did was the fact that he would never be able to sleep on the harsh floor. He got up at peered at Eddies bed- there was a perfectly vacant spot lying right next to him. Buck assumed Eddie wouldn't mind, and so got up to sleep next to Eddie. He got in the bed, and was about to fall asleep when a soft palm rested on top of Bucks chest. He didn't move it, he let it sit there, emitting a safe feeling to Buck. It felt weird admitting it to himself, but he liked the feeling of having Eddie next to him.
