El Paso, Texas 1998Eddie is 6 years old, playing with his older sisters, Adrianna and Sophia. They are currently all surrounding a Barbie dreamhouse, all holding different Barbies. Adrianna has the Olympic skater version, Sophia has the generation girl version, and Eddie has his favourite, the birthday wishes version. Sophia had gotten it for her birthday from their aunt and uncle, but Eddie loved it so much that she had given it to him.
"Eddie! You can't do that, they have to use the stairs!" Adrianna complained to him, rolling her eyes.
"So? Its so much easier just putting them to the top floor!" Eddie argued back. He had a slight lisp when he pronounced his S's, so it sounded like he had said 'tho'.
"Tho" Adrianna replied, imitating him. "Don't you mean so?"
Tears began forming in Eddie eyes as he moved closer to Sophia and tugged on her sleeve. He knew she would defend him, she always did.
"Stop being so mean, he's only 6 Adrianna!" She told Adrianna whilst she wrapped Eddie in a tight hug.
"Why do you always take his side. I don't even know-"
"I'm home!"
Their fathers booming voice interrupted her, and all three kids got up and ran to their father as he entered the house. It was a perfect family moment, their mother welcoming him in with a kiss on the cheek just before they all could hug their father.
"So, how was school today kids?" Their father asked them, a wide smile on his lips.
"Daddy, there wasn't any school today! Its Saturday!" Adrianna laughed out.
"Oh, its been a long day today. So, what have you kids been up to today?"
"We were playing with Sophia's new dreamhouse!" Eddie excitedly shouted out, showing a smile which displayed his missing two front teeth. Eddie had been up all night, wating for the tooth fairy to come the previous night. He had ran into his sisters bedroom as soon as he saw the money, showing off his two dollars that had appeared under his pillow.
"Edmundo! Inside voice!" His mother scolded him, a stern look on her face.
"Aw, Helena he's just excited. Well, That does sounds like a very exciting day!" Their father replied, before their mother told them to set the table.
Their they were, the perfect family- the Diaz family. All close, and they remained that way even when they all moved out the house years later. They had all remained in El Paso, and they had always had a monthly family dinner. Sophia and Adrianna brought over their family, and Eddie brought over his. His beautiful wife, Shannon, his beautiful son, Christopher, and their baby girl, Amelia.
Eddie was a mechanic, that was the only job he had had his entire life. Working the classic 9-5, and getting home to have dinner with his beautiful family.
His perfectly normal family.
Perfect
and
Normal.
