Nagpur,
MaharashtraNagpur was covered with the hues of pink and orange, as the fiery ball was sinking slowing into the horizon, letting the calmness and the gentleness that the breeze carried across the busy city to take over, marking the approachment of the night.
The city lights twinkled as the sky too began showing the presence of the little sparkles spread across it's cover, the stars.
The hustle - bustle of the city was coming to a hold.
But,
That was not so, in the Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur.
Though the crowd had subdued, but still, the bustling footsteps and gentle whispers and sounds of the ongoing vehicles still surrounded the campus. It was one such day, that the tired figures, having their white coats worn with great pride, but shoulders slumped with the weight of their dreams, were walking back, having bags hanging across their shoulders.
Three girls, were walking back, down the hostel route, carrying one or two of the heavy books in their hands, probably returning back, from the library, after a heavy study session.
"Finally Medicine postings khatam! Yaar, alag hi terror tha woh toh! ", one of the girl confessed.
She was Sara Pawar."Tum logo ka sahi hai yaar! Mere toh abhi shuru honge. Aur tum logo ka experience sun kar lagta hai ki jaise koi jang ka maidaan hi hai! ", Kriti spoke.
(Finally the medicine postings are over. It's was such a terror for real.)
(Think about me guys. I am to begin with them now. And listening to your tales I am sure enough that's it's a war field for real. )The three of them, were second year medical students, who had just started with their clinical postings.
They were divided into batches and put into different departments in order to gain first hand experience of dealing with the patients."Shri! Kaha kho gayi hai! ", Kriti asked looking at the other girl, who was lost in her own world, walking mindlessly amidst them both.
" Nahi, mei bas woh.. Chod, kuch nahi! ",Shri replied.
"Shri.. Bataiyegi tu hume kya huwa hai woh! ", Sara haulted her and asked, determined to gain an answer from her friend.
(Shri, where are you lost? )
(Nothing.. It's just.. Leave it.)
(Shri.. Tell us, what's wrong. )" Yaar.. Nahi.. It's..
"Sach sach bata! "
(Tell us the truth)"Okay fine. Toh aaj jis patient ki history meine li thi.. He.. He cried telling me about his issues. You know.. It seems uske bete ki shadi hai agle mahine, and he is here, admitted.
I could see that helplessness on his face. And it felt.. "
(The patient's whose history I took today..)"Shri.. Yaar.. Tujhe kitni baar kaha hai humne.. Stop being so sensitive..
(We told you so many times, Shri. Stop being so sensitive. )" I am not being sensitive, Sara. Or may be I am. I don't know. It's just that..
I could feel what he was going through. And it felt bad.
I know, mei unke liye kuch kar nahi sakti. Na hi aaj, na hi jab mei sach mei doctor ban jaungi tab, in this aspect.
Yes, I would be able to treat the patient, in the future.
But not their sufferings in real.
