As the next day melted into evening, Taelyn found herself anxiously awaiting Heeseung's return home from his meeting with Bossman. The events of the previous day still lingered in her mind, the memory of their shared kiss filling her with a warmth that she couldn't quite shake.
Earlier in the morning, Heeseung had informed her that he had to speak to Bossman quickly. At first, Taelyn brushed it off and thought it wasn't going to be anything too serious, but when she noticed the way his voice slightly shook, she felt like he was hiding something.
With each passing minute, her anticipation grew, her heart fluttering with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. She had no idea what the future held for them, but one thing was certain: she wanted to be by Heeseung's side every step of the way.
Finally, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Taelyn heard the familiar sound of Heeseung's footsteps approaching the door. With bated breath, she rose to her feet, her pulse quickening with each passing second.
As Heeseung stepped into the room, Taelyn's eyes met his, a soft smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Welcome home," she smiles. Heeseung's expression softened at the sight of her, a smile tugging at his lips as he crossed the room to envelop her in a tight embrace.
"Hey, Princess," he replied, his voice tinged with a mixture of relief and contentment. For a moment, they simply stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the weight of the world melting away in the comfort of their embrace.
Though, she couldn't help but notice how he wore a black hoodie and had the hood on during this time of summer season.
As Taelyn observed Heeseung's usual appearance, her concern deepened, prompting her to question him about the reasons behind his covered-up attire. "Heeseung, why are you so covered up?" she inquired, her voice laced with genuine concern.
Heeseung attempted to brush off her question with a nonchalant shrug, his eyes avoiding hers as he mumbled something about it simply looking nice. But Taelyn wasn't convinced, her intuition telling her that something was off.
So, she reached out and gently removed the face mask that obscured Heeseung's features. What she saw beneath sent a jolt of alarm—a face marred by bruises and cuts, evidence of a recent altercation.
He freezes like a deer in headlights.
"Heeseung, what happened to you?" Taelyn slowly said in shock, her voice trembling with worry as she reached for the hood of his hoodie next. Heeseung hesitated and attempted to move away, his gaze flickering with a mixture of embarrassment and reluctance as he attempted to evade her questioning.
But Taelyn was relentless, her fingers grasping the fabric of his hoodie and pulling it back to reveal the full extent of the damage. As the hoodie fell away, Taelyn's breath caught in her throat at the sight before her—Heeseung's battered and bruised form, a stark reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows of their world. "Heeseung..." Taelyn's voice trailed off, her heart aching at the sight of his injuries.
