𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐞𝐡 ☁︎

My body ached like hell.

Yawning, I stood up from the wall where I cried myself to sleep. I walked over to the bathroom.

Damn, I looked like a mess. I turned on the shower, and got ready to go to Kristie's place and stay there for a while.

...

"Hey, Vee!" Kristie smiled, opening the door for me. "Come inside." She moved to the side and let me in.

"Thank you, really. I just wanted to get away for a while," I said, setting my cream luggage onto the ground. She took my slim hands and looked at me with loving eyes.

"Anytime." she smiles, I grin at her. "Let's have some ice cream and binge-watch Gilmore Girls," she continues, dragging me to the living-room.

Kristie is a single mother, she's 21 and she has a 4 year old who's currently asleep. His name is Dion, and they share beautiful brown eyes.

"How's Dion?" I ask, looking around for him. "Is he sleeping?" She nods her head, focused on getting Gilmore Girls up on the projector.

I see a notification pop up on her phone. It's an unsaved number, and the message says 'Have you done it yet?'

That's strange.

I brush it off, and lay back as we both start to eat the caramel ice cream.

...The next day comes.

I'm up at 7 a.m., getting myself ready for my first shift at DTech Studios. I still can't believe I got the assistant position!

I threw on my beige blazer, which matched with my beige pants. I'm wearing a white blouse under and some hoop earrings. I tie my braids back into a high ponytail and I get my cream handbag. I'm all ready.

I say bye to Kristie, and I hop inside of my white car, heading for my destination.

...

The receptionist gave me the directions to the CEO's office. I'm currently standing outside of the white door. I make sure that I look good.

Edges? Check.

Makeup? Check.

Braids? Check.

Clothes? Check.

Inhaling deeply, I knock on the office door.

"Come in," a deep voice says from inside. I open the door, and my boss is-

"Damien?" I let out. I clap my hands over mouth. He looked shocked. He didn't know I was the new assistant. He quickly wiped the shocked look on his face off, and straightened out.

Standing up from his chair, his tall frame walks over to me.

"Congratulations on the position. You will address me as Sir, or Mr Anderson." He keeps it professional, holding out a hand for me to shake. I just stare at it.

I snap back to reality and shake his hand. "Hi Mr Anderson, I'm Nevaeh Ade-"

He cuts me off, saying "I think I know your name already," turning around and sitting back down in his seat. "And I don't appreciate the way you tried to hug me a few days ago."

My cheeks turn hot, as his remark caught me off guard. Ignoring what he said, I asked, "Didn't you say you don't know who I am?"

He narrows his eyes at me. "I didn't hire you to ask me questions. You better act like an assistant before I replace you."

I fight the urge to glare at him and ignore his threat. "Can I get you anything..?"

He contemplates me for a moment, before saying "I'd like a coffee with extra sugar and whipped cream." I nearly choked on my own spit. Is this some kind of sick joke?

"Got a problem?" He asks, narrowing his eyes at me. I shake my head and dash out of there.

She hurries back with a cup of coffee. She sets it on my desk and looks at me hopefully. I pick it up and slowly take a sip. It tasted perfect. But I decided that I'd make her life a living hell.

"What the hell is this?" I spit the coffee back into the cup. "Remake it, now." Sighing, she picks the coffee cup up and exits my office muttering something under her breath.

Not too long later, she comes back in with another cup she sets down on my desk again carefully, and stares at me hopefully. I take a sip. Perfect again.

"Too sweet, remake it." I say, not looking back at her. She takes a deep breath, and leaves my office again.

"Too hot."

"Bland."

"Too cold."

"Not eno-" this time, she cuts me off, saying "I find this funny because I've been coming back with the exact same cup yet you mention different issues with the coffee, every. time."

I stare back at her with amusement. Her angry hazel eyes staring back at me, I chuckle. "Never knew you could lose your cool, Sunshine." I smirk.

Rolling her eyes, she says "You will address me as Ms Adeyemi or ma'am." I stand up from the chair and walk over to her, to the point where she's looking up at me.

I can tell my height is intimidating her, as she swallows thickly. "I'm your boss. I tell you to do things, not the other way round," she steps back. I take another step forward, not breaking contact with those hazel eyes. "So get me another cup of coffee, Sunshine."

She turns on her heel quickly, making sure to slam the door as hard as she possibly can. I return to my desk before I notice her cream handbag. I don't know why, but it's like my legs have a mind of their own as they take me over to it. Something catches my eye.

It's her car keys, but there was a key chain of me and her as kids on it. Sighing, I go back to my desk and wait for my coffee.

"Did you enjoy looking through my bag?" a familiar voice asks dryly. My eyes dart to the door and she was there the whole time.

"Where's my coffee?" I ask, folding my arms, completely brushing off her question. She walks over to my desk, placing my cup down aggressively. "Try that again, without slamming it on my desk," she puts on a fake smile, picking it up and and putting it down gently.

I couldn't help but stare at her the whole time. She was slim, she had perfect curves and an hourglass body.

She seemed to notice my eyes trailing down her body because her lips curved into the annoying Sunshine-y smile I remember from our childhood together. "You can leave now," I say, not bothering to look at her any longer.

I can tell she's still staring at me, with a smug look on her face.

"You enjoy looking at my pretty face, don't you?" She remarks, trying to get a reaction out of me. I shake my head and turn my office chair in the other direction. "If you want the key chain I have another one," she says, walking over to her bag. She unhooks the key chain and places it on my desk.

"I'll be on my way," she announced, exiting my office.

I haven't finished torturing her.
