I shift, toss and turn on the bed but I still can't seem to fall asleep. What happened at the event... It's kind of haunting me.
My ex showed up out of nowhere and tried forcing me to go back to his place. When I refused he grabbed me and tried to drag me away.
I didn't even know he had a home.
He even attacked my friend Isabella, pushing her into the bar counter. I've been texting her but she hasn't replied and I'm extremely worried.
Then Damien lunged at him. Quite frankly, I wasn't expecting a reaction from him at all, let alone him tackling another man for me. Both of us know he could receive terrible backlash from the public media.
Plus, I thought he hated me. His reaction didn't align with his beliefs about me not being good enough.
Either way, he was being... sweet. To me. After the terrible events. He even held my hand. A smile threatens my lips at that.
Hold on, why am I even thinking about him? He still hurt my feelings.
Pushing my thoughts to the side, I try to fall asleep again, but fail for the umpteenth time.
Maybe I should get something to drink or eat, as a little midnight snack. I find that whenever I can't sleep, snacking seems to do the trick.
Sighing, I push myself off the bed and make my way over to the kitchen, my feet slapping against the wooden tiles.
The floor was cold and hard as I navigated through the penthouse in the dark, before finally entering the kitchen. Goosebumps rose on my skin, and a shiver travelled down my spine. It's cold in here.
I cross my arms and try to warm myself up by sliding my hands up and down my forearms to create friction. That failed.
I decide to just focus on getting something to eat. What does he have? Juice, water or snacks? If he'd left me any cookies from earlier, I'd be munching on them by now.
I raid his cabinet, except there's nothing to raid but... trolli gummies?
I'll be taking those, thank you very much.
I immediately snatch the packet and begin to munch on them. Finally, I've been craving these since forever-
A strong grip presents itself on my wrist, making me jump in surprise and fear as my mind flashes back to the event.
My heart rate picks up, as does my intake of breaths in utter and sheer panic. "Let go of me!" I shout, desperately trying to free myself from whoever the hell is grabbing me.
I hear a faint sigh as the grip on my wrist loosens and I instantly worm my hand out of his grasp, holding it to my chest.
"Calm down, it's only me." A deep voice sounds, one that I recognise to be Damien's. Due to the lack of lighting, I can barely make out his face in the dark. "What are you doing?"
I sigh, a wave of relief washing over me, before I realise it's him. "Uh... can't sleep. Hunger. Snack." I babble in caveman English. What am I doing right now?
I can tell he's confused, and it makes me want to laugh. "Why aren't you asleep?" I ask.
"I ask questions here." His tone is harsh, taking me aback. A bit hostile if you ask me. "Who was that man."
