I was completely exhausted by the time I got back. I take off my blazer, loosen my tie and undo the top button to let some air through. Then I go to Nevaeh's room to see if she's asleep. When I open the door, all I can make out in the darkness is the duvet thrown on the floor.
She was nowhere to be seen. So I go to her bathroom and knock on the door, when I notice that the lights aren't even on. Did she go out when I was away?
I check the living room but she's not there. I check the kitchen but she's not there. I check the laundry room but again she's not there.
Finally, I go to my room, the last place I thought she'd be but there she is, curled up on my bed. The lamp on my nightstand is on, so I can see that she's fully asleep. Why is she on my bed?
Deciding not to disturb her, I get changed in my bathroom quietly and go to sleep on the sofa in my living room.

When I open my eyes I'm greeted by the sight of Nevaeh hovering over my face. She jumps, not expecting me to wake up and takes a step back. "Did you sleep well?" She asks and I know something's up. Rubbing my eyes, I sit up and raise a brow.
"What do you want." I demand, too tired for this. She looks taken aback when I say that.
"Nothing." Her eyes drift down to my bare chest before she snaps them back up to my eyes. Her hands play around with the hem of her shirt before she parts her lips. "I'll go now."
I watch her go, remembering that her father had invited me to dinner with her family tomorrow.
It took me some effort to get him to forgive me after I cussed his wife out but it wasn't too hard since I own quite a big company.
Nevaeh is meant to come along with me to the dinner but I don't think she'd want to come.
My phone dings with a notification, and I grab it from the floor.
New Message: Sunshine
I'm sorry
Sorry for what?
Waking you up and sleeping in your bed and annoying you
She thinks I'm mad at her? I thought she knew it was morning grumpiness. I didn't think she would even care if I was mad at her.
I'm not annoyed.
Oh
I thought you wereI can see the typing bubble appear but she doesn't actually say anything.
What's wrong?
Nothing's wrong
Is it so bad that I actually apologise?I never said it was bad that you did.
You're just acting strange. How am I acting strange
What do you mean by thatJust leave it.
No
I want to knowBye Nevaeh.
My phone vibrates again with yet another message, but I don't check it. Maybe I shouldn't have said that.
Whatever. It doesn't matter anyway.
But it did matter. Because every time I tried talking to her she'd turn it into an argument.
