"This is from your first day in kindergarten. I wouldn't expect you to remember that since you where only three." Henry explains the first photo.
A happy girl holding the hand of someone who didn't look older than sixteen. That was Liam.
To confirm her suspicions she pointed at the boy.
"Yeah that's Liam. He actually had school that day, but managed to sneak away just to be there with you." Martin confirmed.
Henry continued to look through the book until he came to a picture he new she could remember, or hoped she would.
"In this picture you're nine I think, a year before Liam and Sara moved."
She recognized herself and the two adults behind her. With a lot of thinking she thought she had the memory sorted out.
"It's the weekend we went to Disney world. It was so many scary things just wandering around." Alma shivered at the thought of headless zombies walking around.
Martin started laughing. "Yeah it was the Halloween weekend. I think you only walked fifty steps on your own that whole weekend. You were attached to Liam with glue. Do you remember?" Martin asked.
"Yeah I do. I remember more." Alma smiled up at the two men beside her. She was pretty lucky to have so many around her that cared for her. "Thanks."
"No problem, baby. What do you want for dinner? I have some work to get done, but I can make you something before I do that." Henry looked at his daughter with adoration.
If that terrible car accident had killed his babygirl he don't think he would've survived.
He thinks about it everyday, how happy he is to have her alive.
Before Alma got to answer a phone started buzzing.
Martin's screen lit up. He reached over too where his phone was.
"Oh!" He said looking at his phone, it was a text. Alma had never seen someone get so excited over a text before.
"They're at the airport!" Martin stood up. The full grown man was ready to sprint out of the door any minute.
"Liam and Sara? Are they here now?" Henry also stood up, totally forgetting what he had asked Alma about just a few seconds ago.
Alma had hands down never seen the two act like this before, they were like two golden retrievers hearing the word 'food'.
"Yeah! You coming with me to pick them up?" Martin asked Henry. That question didn't need to be asked twice, because Henry was already out the door.
The front door closed and Alma was left a little perplexed. She had too laugh, while she shook her head amused. Never in her entire life had she seen them act so unprofessional.
They were truly acting like boys. In their excitement they had forgotten about the sixteen year old on the couch.
Alma wanted to wait too see how long it took for them to noticed that she wasn't with them in the car.
The airport was a good three hour ride each way, so she wasn't complaining. She had the apartment to herself for the first time in so long.
Meanwhile in the car the two men was reminiscing about the last time they saw Liam and Sara.
About how long it had been and so on.It wasn't until Henry turned around to the backseat to see if everything was okay with Alma he found out that Alma was indeed not with them.
He thought she followed, he genuinely thought his daughter was sitting behind him, and he had thought that for about one hour, that's how long they've been driving.
