"Morning love."
Kisses of love pepper down on my face while I sleep. A wonderful dream but a better reality.
"Morning." Groggily, I hug the neck of my husband who has been away for a week. He must have returned last night while I had fallen asleep waiting for him.
"When did you return?" My voice cracks as I lick my chapped lips.
"A few hours ago. I told you not stay awake didn't I?" He lightly scolded me while I smile.
"I missed you." He stops scolding me as soon as he hears me say the words. Without his permission, the side of his lips perk up. He tries to hide the smile but I know he won't be able to.
"You little devil. You know I can't say anything to that." Pulling me towards him by the waist, he tickles me, entangling both of us in the thick blanket he had tucked me in in.
"How was the trip?" I ask after we finally calmed down and sat on the dining table for breakfast. He had already prepared pancake batter so I sat on the kitchen counter as he made and then both of us began to eat together.
"It was good. We got the deal however.." He trails off and a sour face replaces his earlier smile.
"What happened?" I take both our dishes in and wash them as I wait for him to answer.
"There was this girl. She kept throwing herself at us and it almost caused the deal to break." He back hugs me and I feel the tired sigh leaving him.
"She was so annoying and when I called her out, she caused trouble. Her father being one of the few shareholders of the opposite company made it worse. In the end, we had to distract her enough for the signature to be finalized." He complained as I worked and by the time he was done, I had my hands washed.
Turning around, I place my hands around his neck and smile up at him. His arms hung loosely around my waist from before and he leaned down.
"Alls well that ends well? The trips over, she probably won't bother you anymore so lets forget all the bad things and focus on the good. Like how I have a day off and so do you." He grins at my words, forgetting about the girl that had made his week bad.
"Hmm what shall we do all day?" He smirks devilishly and in a second I am up in his arm as he heads to our bedroom. It was so sudden I ended up squealing before his lips sealed mine in a passionate kiss.
"I have to leave, call me when you are done with work." He kisses my forehead as I rush outside with my bag hanging on one shoulder.
"Drive safely and come home early." He adjusts my collar and waves good bye.
I have to leave for the university that I teach in. We met a year ago at the canteen where my parents introduced him to me. It was arranged since I have always trusted my parents in most matters.
It was truly like finding my soulmate with how quickly we got comfortable. I felt a rush when we met and our marriage took place just 6 months later. Both of us had fallen in love by then.
His parents stayed awol all through out the year and though he talks about them time to time, I feel like its a secret he has been hiding but I know to trust him. Not every lie is a weapon of choice, sometimes it could just be a hidden scar.
The day goes by fast and its already late evening with all the assignments I had to check.
"Hello?" I pick up his call as I pack up everything for home.
