A human's face can be so many things. A blank slate, a canvas filled with everchanging colours or a mask. Many have seen the first 2. Watching a happy, over dramatic teen living her life is a burst of colours and observing the traumatized adult who lived through the worst is a blank, grey-ish sad day.
Only a few have seen a chameleon change its colours. Right infront of you like an act dropped. It is so rare that they live after such a revelation. Mentally or physically. To see someone finally show their true selves and more than often, they are worse than anyone can imagine. That's why they have that kind of facade. Protect themselves from others to know their reality. It could also be the harshest opposite. A gentle heart, needing to be protected by those never ending walls that can't be broken.
She was a gorgeous mixture of both of them. A blend of beauty and danger with a hint of pain. The splendid dance on the line between danger and bravery. Her hair reflecting about her personality, soft yet lethal and dark. Hidden but powerful. Her eyes a mirror, never showing whats behind it but changing with the current. A smile so easy to fake, no one would ever guess it is nothing but genuine.
Reality and imagination are never far apart for her. She made her dreams true in any possible way. The way she weaved her plans and her intentions behind the scene. no one would guess the sweet, gentle soul could ever do something as vicious as this.
He knew her from the day she changed. A part of why she became so manipulative. Her biggest rival. Both pushed to their end by people who cared about themselves only. Selfish parents loaded with money, what would you expect. The only thing they could care about is being the best. Both of them had the worst upbringing yet are far apart or are they?
She played dirty without getting her delicate, manicured nails filthy and he played nice with a bit of blood on his hands. They were the opposites yet the closest thing they have to comfort. It began as a compromise to make both sides calm but all it did was light the fire for competition and comparing. The torture they faced, one mentally and the other physically, scarred them with nightmares for a lifetime. Became the exact opposite of their parents yet somehow just a different twisted version.
He saw her mask finally fall. That gutsy smirk molding into tired eyes. The mirror shattered to show all the pain behind. Holding on in a world that is always going to be against her, she had exhausted every possible hope. Brought every kind of happiness and success she wanted. Achieved everything she wanted and now there is nothing left.
He knew what she wanted. The secret buried in her heart and the only reason he knew it is because its the same thing he wants.
Peace.
It had been years since they crossed paths. A choice that had hurt them like a thorn in their sides. It gave them the short lived peace from their parents but the only possible support system, even if its rivalry, was snatched. It kept them alive, made them wake up everyday with a motivation. He was her rival and she was his. They belonged to no one but each other. It wasn't like they didn't know this.
It had been years since they went to each other for anything but the moment their eyes connected, a part of their soul, the only part that survived, revived. Hopeful and filled joy.
"What have you done to yourself. I just knew you wouldn't survive without me." She rolled her eyes, smiling. It looked exactly like the one she has for everyone around her but this one had a special, tiny, unnoticeable difference. Her eyes filled with emotions. Their banter was nectar to her. Sweet, comforting and so very delicious.
When he finally let her surname roll of his tongue, she felt herself shiver. It had been forever since she heard someone call her the way he said it. The only way they ever addressed each other and even if she hated her family's surname, when he said it, it sounded like a prayer. A taunt. They both started it to annoy the other but it had become a love language.
She took a step closer to him. He stepped back, instantly. Her walk is of a predator, reaching its prey. It isn't fear in his eyes but the need, the desire to be close to his one and only enemy.
Not a moment of hesitation, she jumped on him, her arms around his neck. His snaked around her waist and lifted her to his mouth where they kissed each other fervently. Relentlessly. Each nip, each bite like a wave. Every taste wasn't enough.
Years of yearning and waiting had finally got them to this moment. They didn't stop till their lungs burnt with all the passion. Her face coated with deep red paint. The only time her face a canvas with colour. His breathing heavy, he let her slide down. Both of them staring at each other filled with satisfaction. Its just the start for another life of rivalry just this time they do it with intertwined hands.
