"You never chose me." He screams as she stares at him, trying to make sense of what just happened.

"I did just now. I did." She whispers without thinking. Unable to comprehend what she just did. What has she become?

"Its too late. On the day I will marry? Really?" He sighs and she takes a step back without speaking a word. Tears begin to accumulate in her eyes yet not one drops. Just like always, not one drops.

"You knew." She says, finally looking into his eyes after realizing what she did. What she had been doing the last 2 days.

"What?" Her heart began breaking into pieces. It was like someone was ripping her heart out, breaking every possible vein connecting it to her body. All of her was screaming yet not a word escaped her mouth.

"You always knew that I liked you." She chuckles yet it sounds like a scoff. The taunting smile on her face gets instantly replaced by the self deprecating smirk. She was a fool to be blind in love. Funny how she ended up being the one thing she worked so hard to not be.

"I-I-" He stutters as he watched his best friend come to the realization that he always knew she liked him just like he did, yet he never made a move. He waited for her to make a move until it was too late.

"Don't-" She sighs, taking a deep breath. "Don't destroy that girls life." She shakes her head and looks at him with a new gaze. A part of him that she ignored visible as clear as day. He changed her in ways she hated.

"What are you saying? Are you in your right mind?" She chuckles.

"I'm finally in the right mind." She shakes her head and laughs, taking steps back till she is almost outside the door. Just before she reaches outside, she crashes into someone.

Turning around she finds the bride to be with teary eyes. The laugh stops abruptly as she realizes she saw everything. Her hands trembled and she reached for her. The girl takes her hand back and begins to run away.

"Wait. I'm leaving." She calls out to the girl who was broken hearted. The girl turns around and she smiles shrugging.

"I am sorry for what I did these 3 days, I feel so stupid. This is not me and I plan to never come back. What happened is a horrible, horrible stupidity of mine. I fell for a man who never cared enough for me and in that way we are similar. The same man, the same manipulation. Once again, I'm sorry but before I leave, I advice you to rethink this marriage." She says and walks away with her heels clicking on the marble floor.

The expensive tiles turned into a concrete road and then a muddy road yet her steps continued to walk with determination, she had a flight to get on.

Fashion week had just started, if she rushes back, maybe she would get back her job. They were pretty adamant about her not leaving. A few calls later, she is accepted back. Her replacement hadn't been found and she had a deducted salary for the next months till the year ends but it didn't matter. She was going to build back the empire she almost let go of.

She landed 18 hours later in Paris, the man besides her all through out becoming her new friend. If she let herself be the isolated girl, it would just destroy her.

The airplane mode is switched off and her phone rings instantly with his call. Her friend escorts her out and waits in the cab till she ends the call, they planned to explore the city together. It had always been her dream to travel the world, the man she promised to do with had just rejected but doesn't mean the dream should die.

"Hello?"

"Finally. Where are you? I have cancelled the wedding. I will do everything to get you back-"

"Its too late." She repeats his words. The other line goes silent for a moment.

"I'm sorry." He sighs, she hears the tears and her heart breaks all over. That man was her best friend since college. He was her pillar, kept her strong when she broke.

"Don't do this Liam." She sighed, her eyes burning. Everything about this killed her but she made a decision for once. They had played hide and seek all along but now its too much. He deserved better and so does she.

"Please. Linn, I have loved you since the day you graduated with honors in college."

"I loved you since then too yet you never made a move. You knew I couldn't. You knew it was killing me inside yet you didn't help me. You led me on and then acted as if there is nothing going on. You played me even if it is unknowingly." She sighs. She realized that he accepted they won't work out the day they danced under the moonlight just as she missed the right moment to confess.

Maybe it was always her fault but now that everything has unfolded, no one can go back in time. They could get back together but she had chosen her future and this time love wasn't included as a necessity. It wasn't a priority anymore after the man she loved had manipulated her.

"Linn." He trails off, speechless. "I was scared. What if you didn't like me? What if it was my wishful thinking?" She could hear the truth in his voice but she never backed down a decision. It is the only rule she never broke.

"Liam. I love you. I have always loved you and I always will. If we ever meet again in the future, both of us single and ready, lets try it right. Lets do it the way in the movies. Start from scratch." She cuts the call, not hearing his voice knowing it would make her cry after those years.

"Hi. Sorry to keep you waiting. Lets go?" Her new friend nods, both of them taking off towards their hotel.

She had given up on a love that dragged on for 15 years. They pushed and pulled but after knowing he held the strings all along, it felt like betrayal but forgiving was easy. He had always been her weakness. He wasn't wrong but so was she. It was circumstances and time that played with them.
