With each passing second that went by during the video, Luffy could tell that something was off about his father.
He wasn't sure why, but the way he was treating him in the video didn't make sense.
The man had a stark, ill-omened vibration that made Luffy feel unsafe and slightly intimidated.
In the recording, Dragon's attitude towards his child was deemed unusual, and almost abusive, through Luffy's eyes, as he saw how his father was scolding the younger version of himself by shouting at him.
He couldn't hear what he was saying, his voice was hardly audible from the very start of the video, but as the one-sided argument went on with Dragon and his son, the toddler started to cry.
Luffy was clueless as to what Dragon said to make him cry, but he knew that the words his father spewed at him weren't appropriate at all for such a small boy like him.
He wondered why he was acting so cruel, let alone what little Luffy did to deserve to be mistreated that way.
The camera angle changed, showing a close-up of the toddler, standing in the bathtub.
As Luffy got a closer view of it, he saw droplets of blood staining the water.
The putrid smell was so strong that Luffy began to inhale it, as if he were standing right beside the tub.
It him feel queasy. He covered his nose with one hand, all the while still holding the camera with the other.
The discomposing sound of the child's mournful crying grew louder, yet he showed no signs of being injured.
This kept Luffy wondering where the blood was coming from, and why it was still actively dripping into the water.
His father attempted to calm Luffy down by talking to him.
He showed him a rubber ducky, waving it in the air in a playful manner to try and cheer him up.
Yet it was no use, the child's pained cries continued to pierce through the man's ears, agitating him as he ran out of options to stop him from crying.
Eventually, Dragon reached his breaking point and grabbed onto the boy's shoulders, causing him to turn around.
By the time the crying boy faced his father, the video eerily cut off, ending right then and there.
Yet Luffy caught a glimpse of something truly spine-chilling, at the end of the clip, when the toddler faced the camera.
The last scene that his eyes managed to capture was unlike anything that he had ever seen before.
And the shock of the nightmare was so intense that it woke Luffy up, almost seconds afterwards.
The silence in his room was so loud that he could hear the sound of his own heartbeat as he looked up at the ceiling.
"It's still raining."
Was the only thing that he could think of, as he listened to the sound of the heavy rain, pouring outside of the Sunny.
There was no one in the room with him when he woke up.
Zoro had already gotten up and was nearly halfway done with his morning exercise routine.
Sanji was in the kitchen making breakfast for the few Straw Hats that were up, and the rest that weren't, were still asleep.
Luffy thought about going back to sleep for a few more minutes, but his body thought otherwise.
"Agh.."
His right eye squinted shut when he was overwhelmed with the urge to urinate, once his brain sent a message to the rest of his organs that he was fully awake.
