Deaton quickly rushed Scott over to a side table as he and Alex stared at the dead body lying on the main table.

"Your family's coming back, so we don't have much time to talk," Deaton said to Alex as he poured some liquid on a cotton ball.

"What's that?" Scott asked as Deaton looked at him blankly.

"Rubbing alcohol. You don't want it to get infected, do you?" Deaton questioned as Scott shook his head no while Alex looked over the body, recognizing him.

"That's one of the hunters my father employs. What happened to him? And why did my family bring him to you?" Alex asked, pointing toward the body with one hand while the other was in front of his nose, covering it. The room stunk of rotting flesh, decomposition, and shit because of the body, assaulting Alex's supernaturally enhanced sense of smell to the point it was hard to focus on anything else.

"I'll explain later," Deaton said to Alex while dabbing the rubbing alcohol on Scott's wound. "Listen, you'll heal the same, just not as quickly because of Derek," he finished in a rush.

"Okay, how do you know all this? Actually, how do you know anything?" Scott questioned while Deaton put a bandage over the wound, making Scott cringe in pain from the alcohol sting.

"It's a long story, and I'll explain everything to you later. What I can tell you now is that I know of your kind," he said, looking at Scott, not realizing that Alex was one as well.

"Your kind, I can help," he said, biting off another strip of tape to hold the bandage to Scott's skin.

"This," Deaton said, looking over at the body as the boys did, staring at the massive claw marks that had gone very deep into the hunter. "This is something different," he said.

"Do you know what did it?" Alex asked as Deaton shook his head and looked toward him.

"No. But your family will. This part is crucial and is likely something even you don't know," he said, referring to Alex. "The Argents will have some kind of record or book. It'll have descriptions, histories, and notations of all the things they've discovered," Deaton explained hurriedly as both Scott and Alex looked surprised.

"All the things?" Scott repeated, stammering in shock. "How many different things are there?" he asked as cars could be approaching from outside.

With all that was going on, Alex had neglected his supernatural hearing, having been too distracted by the overpowering smell assaulting him and what was happening before him. Thus, he was unable to hear the vehicles coming until it was too late.

"They're here. Hide," Deaton said as Scott moved to hide while Alex stood there.

"My trucks out there. They'll know I'm here," Alex said in a slight panic as he tried to think of something before an idea came to mind, and he turned to Deaton.

"We'll tell them I was here for an interview for a job position. You posted a help wanted ad, right?" Alex said, remembering he saw the flyer posted outside the clinic's door.

Deaton nodded, agreeing with the plan. The bell rang at the front door, indicating someone had opened it. Chris and another hunter walked to the back and found Alex and Deaton standing there.

Chris was surprised to see his son in attendance and standing in the same room as their dead hunter.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" Chris demanded as Alex remained calm, leaning on the edge of the counter next to Deaton, trying not to look disgusted by the smell.

"I was here for an interview for the position of veterinary assistant when, to my surprise, I found one of your hunters dead on the table. So, Dad, anything you want to tell me?" Alex asked pointedly while crossing his arms as he looked from his father to the dead body and then back to him.
