I could feel the blood on his back as I pressed it. Don't die; don't you dare die! "Stay with me. Stay with me. You're okay; you are the strongest person I know. Please Gérald!" The tears were running down my face. The earpieces in my ear were broken; I couldn't even hear at all out of my left ear. I need you; don't die. I don't know what to do. Thaïs, where is Thaïs? I looked around the room to see her body with a bullet wound. She was lying near a large crate. I couldn't help her now. Why won't he stop bleeding? Why won't he wake up? I was so scared. What should I do? Should I call Chuuya or Aram? They will just tell me that we can't save him. I grabbed my phone and called Chuuya. He was nice; he would know what to do.
"This is Chuuya."
"Help, Gérald and Thaïs were stabed and shot; I don't know what to do."
"I am on my way."
"Th-thank you." I put the phone down and kept trying to stop the blood.
"Gérald, stay with me. Stay with me. You can't die. Not like this. I need you. Please. Don't leave me. You're my best friend. I can't live without you." I felt his pulse; it was getting weaker and weaker. I need him. He can't die; he is Gérald; nothing can take him down. He is the only person that I would never kill. The only person I could never live without. I ripped off the part of his shirt where the wound was. It was torn and bleeding. Minests went by, but it felt like years. I heard a voice coming from the entrance. Chuuya and Isidor came running in with twelve other men. Isidor ran towards Thaïs while Chuuya came my way.
"Elizaveta, I need you to step aside; let us help him."
"No, no, no. Chuuya, no. We can't lose him. He can't die."
"Look." He looked me dead in the eye. "You are the strongest woman I know. If anyone can help him, it's you. But right now, we need to get him to a hospital. Now move."
I nodded and moved. Chuuya lifted him up and ran out the door. He was fast for his size—about five and two. His short hair was covered by a beanie, and large gold earrings hung from his ears.
The doctors were trying their best, but Gérald was just lying on the bed, his chest going up and down. "Gérald, please don't leave me."
"You know, I don't think I've ever seen you cry before." Chuuya walked into the room and stood by the wall.
"Chuuya, please. This isn't the time for jokes. I don't want to lose him. I can't."
"Ok, but when did you kill him?"
"I met him when he was 14. We got into a fight, then stopped working together. I met him again and joined the mafia."
"Did he know about the Crimson?"
"Not till we went out to kill people. We did some recon. I got my payment, and then we headed out. He just thought it was a normal addiction like any person."
"Did he have any family or anything?"
"No, he was an only child, and his parents comited, leaving him with millions of dollars of debt."
"Wow, that must have sucked."
"I know."
We both stayed there in silence, just waiting for the doctors to come back and tell us how he was. We waited in a large room with eight chairs and tables. There were two guards inside the room and two outside. Suddenly, Natalia came into the room. She was in her nurse outfit with her hair tied back in a tight bun.
"Well, the doctor said that he would live." She said she was smiling.
"What?" I jumped up and looked at the door.
