Cuckoo birds live in pairs, with one male and one female. They lay eggs and incubate them for most of the year, but due to natural predators, few survive.

With the help of the three horned bamboos, Luo Zhen easily caught another female incubating eggs in the nest. The eggs were identical to the ones Ah Shui brought in the morning. Luo Zhen counted them; there were only five in total. Ah Shui had given two to Luo Zhen, and with Lu Zhan, who lay injured at home, they each had one.

Seeing the three people about to eat the eggs raw, Luo Zhen quickly stopped them.

"If you eat these eggs raw, won't they taste unpleasant?" Luo Zhen suggested, "Why not let me cook them into something delicious for you?"

The adults didn't mind, but Ah Shui, excited by the prospect of delicious food, handed the bird eggs to Luo Zhen to prepare.

"What can you make with these bird eggs?" Heiya handed over the bird eggs and asked curiously.

Their diet was simple, mainly consisting of grilled or boiled food. If they had rock salt at home, they'd add a bit for flavor. However, since rock salt often contained impurities, the taste didn't improve much. Some fighters preferred to fill their stomachs with freshly caught prey.

Of course, this eating method was unacceptable to Luo Zhen, a modern person.

"Boiled eggs, custard, scrambled eggs, and more," Luo Zhen replied, recalling the dishes he could make.

"What are those?" Ah Shui, wide-eyed, stared at Luo Zhen. Could bird eggs really be used to make so many dishes? He had never heard of such things before.

Luo Zhen couldn't explain right away and simply said, "You'll see when I cook them."

Ah Shui nodded eagerly, but he regretted that the cuckoo bird had been discovered only when he came last time. He wondered if there were more nearby so he could gather more eggs with Luo Zhen.

Initially, Luo Zhen planned to search for other wild vegetables nearby. Since they were close to the water source and the weeds were denser, it seemed like a good spot. But just as he finished collecting the bird eggs, the beasts signaled a retreat with their whistles, which grew louder from far to near.

"What's happening?" Luo Zhen couldn't help feeling nervous when he saw Jiaozhu and Heiya's changed expressions upon hearing the noises.

"A fierce beast is approaching," Horned Bamboo took everything from Hei Ya and carried it behind him. Hei Ya's leg was injured, so he couldn't move quickly. Carrying things at this time would only slow them down. Of course, Hei Ya wouldn't insist on helping. He accepted Horned Bamboo's offer to carry the burden.

Just as Kadotake finished speaking, beastly roars echoed not far away, indicating more than one fierce beast approaching.

The four didn't dare linger and hurried towards the tribe. While halfway there, Luo Zhen was pushed vigorously and stumbled, falling to the ground. There happened to be a small slope next to him. As he fell, he instinctively grabbed the weeds, but they couldn't bear the weight of an adult man and broke. As Luo Zhen tumbled down the slope, he saw a huge black panther fighting another indiscernible beast.

Horned Bamboo didn't expect his push to send Luo Zhen so far. Ordinary people's bodies weren't as sturdy as orcs'. He once saw an ordinary person fatally injured from falling off a hillside. But he couldn't check Luo Zhen's condition at the moment.

Hei Ya rarely transformed into a beast since his injury. His legs were already trembling. If he didn't step in to help, Hei Ya might become the beast's prey.

"Daddy, I'm going to check on Luo Zhen," Ah Shui declared, dropping his belongings and slowly crawling down the slope along Luo Zhen's path.

Kadotake couldn't afford any distractions and quickly transformed into a beast to confront the approaching beast.
